IntelOptane 16GB Internal Flash Accelerator - PCI Express - M.2 2280

I know I don’t use it as it was intended. But as a small reliable boot SSD for my TrueNAS server it has been fantastic.I have at least 7 or 8 of these and have several set up in m.2 enclosures or on dual M.2 PCIe cards paired with a decent NVME. 2 with ventoy with various OS installation images/ISOs. I have 1 with various recovery tools. One as a boot drive for a Raspi4.I still have a few around as spares or for other future projects.I’d love to get some of the 32gb versions at a good price in the future.

Happy with both the product and vendor. Optane is an inexpensive solution to speed up large but slow hard drives. The hard drive used in testing was a Seagate BarraCuda 4TB which is being used to store games. The drive saw significant improvement in read speed, making load times tolerable. It doesn't come close to the speed of an M.2 SSD, but for simple gaming it's barely noticeable and you get tons of cheap storage. Highly recommend.

A bit tricky to install, had to play with the board's BIOS, but is working fine.

Great idea it doesn't work! (insert meme)It crashed my computer, the software stops after just a couple of minutes using the PC. I reinstalled everything to get this working, did some troubleshooting in BIOS, updated the frameworks, BIOS, EVERYTHING!!!!!!! And still crashed my computer after a couple of minute of use.I had to purchase and SSD and this is just rotting away in it's box, not worth the money, invested time to get it to work and it doesn't work as it's supposed.

Theoretically it would have been nice. Drivers no longer available due to end of life of product.

It increased the speed of my hard drive like an SSD.
