A Great Little Amp
FINALLY received this tiny amp. It works great on all of my guitars - acoustic, electrice, steel string, nylon string. It is so much better than the practice amp I bought from a major foreign musical supply. It is terribly convenient - no power cables, no guitar cables (only a short jumper). I don't find the Chorus and Crunch settings useful but the reverb is pretty good. I may purchase a few of these for my students to use during lessons rather than cart around their amps and chords and cables.

Excellent product
I really liked this portable amplifier, it's very easy to use and high quality sound. I already spent several hours having fun at home without having to be plugged to an amplifier.

Great Practice Amp
The Strum Buddy is a super convenient way to practice at home without setting up my heavy rig. Just stick it on your guitar and get quite a few fun tones out of it.The amp has an astounding amount of bottom end and low mids but I find the treble to be a bit lack luster. The overdrive is more tame than I anticipated which came as a nice surprise, most tiny amps go from 0 to 11 and this one sits at a solid 6, not too much but not quite enough either. The chorus is luscious and warm but not overbearing. The reverb is great too, it has a slap-back with a warm, medium length decay. My biggest complaint about it though is it has a very loud noise floor. I realize they crammed a lot into a tiny package and were doing their best to make sure it projects well, but man it's noisy. There is also no volume roll off which I like to do, the drop off when rolling down your volume is ridiculous. That all said, I still think this is a great and convenient product. I would buy it again.

Works great for INTENDED use
I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews by people who are using this product on acoustic electric guitars. I can understand their frustration, but they shouldn't lower the rating of a pretty good product because they are not using it for what it was intended. Look, an acoustic has its "built in" amplifier-in fact, IT IS its own amplifier. I get that it's not always as loud as we want it to be, but did you really think this little thing was going to be any louder?!? If you want to use this on an ELECTRIC guitar, IGNORE those negative reviews!Okay, that's off my chest. Now for how I found this little things works IN ITS INTENDED ROLE. (Upfront, I've used it on strats and teles). The short answer: pretty good! It's about as loud as a medium sized acoustic clean, and a little louder than an acoustic distorted. The tone is great for clean-ish leads, ok for overdriven stuff, and I can dial in a decent acoustic-like sound which is convenient for when I want to shift between acoustic and electric but can only bring one guitar. The chorus gives a neat 12 string effect and the reverb is not bad. It almost has a slap back delay sound, which is great for me since I play a lot of country. For the cons: one of the FEW negative reviews that came from an electric guitarist mentioned that it's hard to get clean tones at higher volumes from humbucker pick ups. I find that pretty believable, although as I have said it's fine with fender style single coils. Even so, it just seems like a volume control, or perhaps a gain, wouldn't be that tough to add on and would improve the product a great deal. There is a little hiss with the overdriven on but it's not noticeable while your playing and if your jamming with someone their accompaniment would cover it up.Let's face it, this was designed for a specific purpose: to let you play your electric guitar in situations where you 1. want it to be heard, and 2. don't need it to sound perfect (at least not enough to haul in a mini amp). So in other words, you want to play and sing with friends on the living room couch or jam with an acoustic player around the backyard firepit. If you don't need other people to hear you, the vox amplug sounds much better. If you're putting on a serious performance, you're going to need a real amp. For the above situations, it works perfectly. The tone is not bad at all and the volume range is good. It lets you play your electric with the same freedom-and limitations-as your acoustic. But please, if you got it to make an ACOUSTIC guitar louder than it already is. DON'T BLAME THE PRODUCT. That's not what its for.

A good idea that falls short
Pros: Small and Portable, rechargeable and attaches with suction cupCons: I fully charged the Strum Buddy and couldn't wait to try it out, only to be totally disappointed. The suction cup did work on my Acoustic Electric guitar but the guitar does not have a volume control and neither does the device, as soon as I plugged it in the feedback was loud, screeching and uncontrollable. I then attached the device using a 6 foot adapter that I had. That controlled the feedback but now StrumBuddy was six feet away and had an annoying intrusive hum. Then I attached to my semi hollow electric guitar with all the necessary controls, volume, tone, pickup choice etc. The guitars volume control controlled the feedback but had to turn it so low couldn't hear the device and now the hum was really annoying as the device was right near your ears as it was attached to guitar and no way to get rid of it.Finally, I would not recommend this device for acoustic electric or semi hollow guitars probably because the device is too close to sound holes and the device is overcome with feedback. Note; SB needs on/off indicators for effects and a volume control.Might work on a solid body electric but I had to return it. As usual Amazon return policy is great

Don't knock it, if you haven't tried it.
I use it on my Jazzmaster Acoustisonic when I'm sitting in my recliner. It sounds good on the acoustic side, but naturaly doesn't have the depth. It's only an inch and a half speaker. But on the electric side it screams. With the gain up on the guitar, I get crazy sustain and cool harmonic feedback on the notes I want when playing leads. It sounds good on all my other electrics. The effects work good too. Even though its not like a big rig, it puts out some volume. For just 60 bucks? Go figure.
