A great little camp stove
I picked up this stove after being a little disappointed with a different one I had purchased before. That other one didn't really support my coffee percolator very well and it always felt like it was going to fall off. After my last camp trip, I decided to look around for something better and came across this one.I absolutely love this camp stove! It's still light and fairly compact for being one with a remote canister. I love the base that is created for the pots to sit on, and my percolator fits on there perfectly. It doesn't have a built in ignitor, but I consider that a bonus - I hate those things as they always go out on you and you end up having to use a match or lighter anyways. The flame is nicely adjustable and easy to set wherever you want it. When boiling a pot of water, I did have to turn the flame down, as it does create a very wide flame and it was started to melt the silicon coating on my handles. That's no fault of the stove though! When making coffee (which I've used it for about a dozen times so far), it's easy to turn the heat nice and low after it starts to percolate and has a nice even flame across the bottom.Okay, so onto the one thing I did not like - the braided stainless hose has a little sharp area where it frayed out some, that you can hopefully see in the pictures. I don't think it will affect any use of the stove, but it's annoying to keep getting caught on it. I would have liked to see a braided stainless hose that was smooth to the touch all way down. Also, it does come with a little mesh carry case. I have mixed feelings about this. Overall, I don't really like it much. Mostly because the mesh catches on things as you put in or take out the stove. But it does provide a little padding when carrying it, so I do like that.Overall, it works excellent and I would easily buy it again! I'll probably try to track down a replacement hose at some point, but as of now, it works very well and I can't wait to take it camping and backpacking more!

Excellent remote cannister stove.
I have to admit, I have a problem.I am addicted to campstoves.I have, at last count, upwards of 15 different kinds of campstoves.Propane, white gas, multi-fuel, alcohol, isobutane, wood burning...I pretty much have all the bases covered. This one is one of my favorites. There are a couple of advantages to a remote cannister stove over a standard model. The first one being cold weather performance. Standard isobutane canisters really start to lose effectiveness when temperatures drop to around freezing. Butane gas liquifies at around 38 degrees, this greatly reduces stove performance. Using a remote cannister allows you to invert the cannister and the fuel will flow even after it has turned into a liquid. This stove has a pre-heat tube which will heat the liquid fuel back into a gas for efficient burning. Very nice.Another advantage of a remote cannister stove is the lower center of gravity makes for a more stable cooking platform. You can use larger pots more safely without risk of them tipping over.Remote cannister stoves also allow for the use of a more effective windscreen. Using a standard cannister stove you have to be very careful when using a windscreen as you don't want to direct too much heat back onto the cannister. This can cause overheating and could lead to catastrophic failures...big boom!!!This is mitigated by a remote cannister as you can put the windscreen around the stove, while leaving the cannister at a safe distance. The only real disadvantage to this style of stove is increased weight and bulk. It won't be a part of my ultra light setup.I do quite a bit of canoe camping and have taken this stove on my last few trips. It has performed admirably. The flame control is excellent. You can go from a raging inferno that will boil water very quickly, down to a tiny simmer that allows you to cook pancakes or eggs without scorching them.On my last trip we did burgers for dinner one night, then eggs and pancakes for breakfast the next morning. All on this little stove. As weight and bulk are less of an issue in the canoe, I will typically use a propane cannister adapter that allows me to use the larger, less expensive propane cylinders commonly available at most outdoors stores. A very nice option. The stove works great with standard isobutane canisters as well though.I'm very impressed with this little stove. It's relatively lightweight, very stable, and super versatile.Very highly recommended.

Works if careful
Let me say upfront that I took a star off because you do need to be careful with this little stove. It can be a little on the flimsy side. Don't get me wrong, it is definitely usable anbd works great for heating a pot of water or making a pot of coffee or anything like that, but it needs to be placed on a stable, even surface and you need to be very careful when you put a pot on it or remove the pot. To be on the safe side, we've developed a routine where we turn off the stove before removing anything from it just to make sure we don't get burned or cause any issues along those lines. It's definitely lightweight which makes it easy to pack and take along with camping where every ounce counts. It works great, too, for a frying pan and making quick eggs in the morning (or any time of day for that matter). It cooks everything very quickly and has been a great (smaller) alternative to our regular stoves. It doesn't take long to set up so we can get cooking very quickly.Overall, this is a great little stove to take with us or even use in remote locations on our farm where we just want to boil some water for tea or make a few hotdogs for lunch.

Excellent back packing stove
We took this little stove with us on a spur-of-the-moment backpacking trip. It is super lightweight and packs up into a tiny space. But best of all is it works! We ended up getting caught in a several hour long rainstorm which left us trapped in our tent with only the tiny space under the tarp to make coffee. This little stove came to the rescue! It didn't blow out or over in the wind and it boiled our water super quickly. This is an excellent piece of equipment and I highly recommend it for anyone who needs a little back up stove or who needs a lightweight backpacking staple. Great product!

This portable stove is the bomb
I love fire Maple products and find that they are just as good as the ones that are two to three times more expensive.I've had very good luck with their products they're all very well made very durable extremely lightweight and portable great for taking on a true backpacking trip where weight is very important yet having a good method of cooking is also adequately important.Best bang for your buck with lightweight backpacking equipment you can get.
