How a retailer handles a problem tells the most about their credibility. I purchased a 2023 CarlinKit 4.0 Wireless Adapter and it would not connect on my 2023 Subaru Forester, so I contacted the seller through the Amazon interface. The tech support was not able to solve the problem on the first try nor the next 2, so I decided to return it. Because they were very responsive with suggestions, usually the same day and exhibited a sincere attempt to solve the problem, I elected to exchange the product for the same one. Incidentally the price had gone down during this time. I received the unit the next day, followed the instructions, and it worked without a hitch and has been performing flawlessly for about a week. Note that it takes about 15-20 seconds to connect each time I get in the car, but that is no big deal. Discussing this price change CarlinKit agreed to refund me $30. I recommend the product and the company without hesitation. By the way, I used velcro to attach the unit to the top, inside the dashboard pocket where the USB plug is located (see photo).

I recently purchased the CarlinKit 4.0 Wireless Adapter for my Mazda CX-9 and I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, the adapter works great and allows me to have seamless wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and CarPlay. This makes using my phone in the car much more convenient and enjoyable. However, I have noticed that the adapter often experiences booting issues. Sometimes, when I start my car, I have to manually disconnect and reconnect the adapter to get it to work properly. This can be a bit frustrating, especially when I am in a hurry. Overall, I would still recommend the CarlinKit 4.0 Wireless Adapter to others due to its convenience, but be aware of the occasional booting issues. I am hopeful that these issues will be resolved in future updates.

Bought this for my 2023 Porsche Macan, shame on me - should have read the Porsche owner forums for reviews before picking this up. First pass, the BT pairing jammed up to the point I had to blow away my BT saved devices on the phone. Second pass, got connected but had about the upper-left 2/3 of the screen only, and touch interactions are offset by ~1cm to the right and down - so useless. Tried to reach out to Carlinkit support, but the only way is to use the on-device "backstage" website, which doesn't have internet access, so you have to flip-flop between on-device wifi and real wifi to send a customer support ticket - and I'm still not sure it ever went out. I supposed the unanswered question queue on here should have been a clue. Also of note - ever since I hooked this device up to my PCM, the system appears to boot slowly and gets stuck in certain modes from time to time (e.g. surround camera hangs for up to 30s after I've shifted from R to D) so buyer beware.

UPDATE: After my two star review below, the Carlinkit Store reached out to offer a full refund, allowed me to keep the item, and worked with me to resolve my issues. The device still isn't perfect, however it's working a bit better/more consistently with a new firmware update and some settings changes. This customer service was excellent. For this reason I'm moving my rating up to 4 stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought this to use with both wireless Android Auto and Carplay. When it works, it does so well. Pretty responsive. It's not laggy (pretty snappy) when playing music or serving up Google Maps directions. Acts pretty much like it's connected via a wire. The probably is getting the phone initially connected. Every time we start the car and try to connect my S21 Ultra or my wife's iPhone the device locks up. We have to reboot it. After one reboot it usually connects ok. Sometimes it takes two reboots. Since this is necessary every time we restart the car, this device is pointless. I rather just connect via wire. Very flaky for this expensive of a device. I continued troubleshooting and missed the return window. Don't make the same mistake I did.
