CD60
CD60, took about 5min to plug in and used a RCA digital cable from digital out to digital in on eversolo DMP-A8. Turned power on everything to include amp. Put in Sade, "diamond life" and I'm listening to smooth music in under 15 min from cd source. The CD60 appears to be well made and of quality and I like the sound output. Controls are easy to use and not too complicated. I have a few marantz components to include a marantz amp connected to the above noted components. Like what I hear and what I see and product is good. I picked the source as Crutchfield and bought here to take advantage of a incentive based on a credit card. Good product and glad I purchased it. I"m listening to the item in question right now as I write this. Also the products from Crutchfield show up timely. Roll ON CD MUSIC !

Wow! I'm really impressed
The Marantz CD 60 replaces a Rotel CD 14 which stopped reading CDs after only one year and nine months. I'd like to hear the upgraded Rotel CD 14 MKII, since it currently has the same selling price as the Marantz. The build of the Marantz manifests quality. The sound it reproduces is pretty close to audiophile standards. Filter 1 produces clarity and a spaciousness with raw edginess to the highs - being a hardcore jazz fan, I like this mode; while Filter 2 maintains clarity and the same wide soundstage but adds some refinement to the sound by softening the edginess of the highs. I hear a distinct difference in reproduction from all of my previous CD players (Rotel and NAD). I was never so excited about the performance of an electronic device. The Marantz is hitched to a Sony ES1800 AVR which boasts tremendous power and feeds two power hungry SVS Ultra Towers. I feel like I'm on my way to achieving audiophile status.

An instant classic
OK, this does not resemble the classic Marantz equipment of my ancient youth, but like those old devices, this new player is pure stylistic beauty. Even the black version is absolutely gorgeous. This unit shows an extremely high build quality, and packs a hefty weight. The sound is superb. Its only fault is: it can't remember where you left off on a disc, when you power off mid-disc. I am used to players being able to resume where I left off. It is a quibble, I know. I love listening to my collection on this player, and like to look at it too, but hey, I am weird like that. It is nice to have a Marantz back on duty.

CD 60 looks the part and play better than it looks
Well-made player. I currently own a Marantz NA6007 Network audio player that has the same DAC chip as the CD60 - ESS9016 I believe the output stage is made better on the CD60 then on the NA6007. The sound stage on the NA6006 is really good but the sound stage on the CD60 is much more expansive. Current setup Denon PMA1600 - Marantz CD 60 - Marantz NA6007 Network Audio player - Fluance RT85 - JBL 4312C

Outstanding
I bought this CD player after selling my ARC player a few mths ago. Initially i was going to wait until the fall but since i haven't played any CDs in mths i decided to get this new player from Marantz. I read good things about Marantz entry level players in the past. I received the player yesterday and to my surprise the player performs excellent right out of the box. Packaging and construction is high level. My initial sound impressions are of a huge soundstage with pinpoint images. This player is very extended at the frequency extremes. On top of that this is a very transparent player. I can hear/see the layering and separation of instruments in the background of the soundstage. There is a lot of detail without being bright or edgy, just the right amount. This player never fatigues the listener which in my book is the standard measure of a good CD player. I'm very curious as to how this player will sound after 3 or 4 hundred hours of use and break in. I am definitely keeping this player and also given it my best recommendation at the $1,000 price point.

Met all expectations
I have an excellent, though old (circa 1987) sound system, though it is by no means "high end" by any definition. I was never fully pleased with my original Yamaha CD player. It was quite highly regarded at the time of its manufacture, but that was early in the era of CDs, and I have always felt that the highs it produced were often not faithful to the source material and sometimes even a bit shrill. So, while I was expecting the Marantz CD60 to be an improvement, it really exceeded my expectations. Not only is the harshness from the Yamaha player totally gone, but I am enjoying noticeably improved dynamic range, a wonderfully new distinction between instruments within nearly every recording, a faster attack time, and much greater overall clarity. For me, this CD player has met all expectations! EDIT, 12/12/2025: My Marantz CD60 player still sounds as exceptionally good as it did when I unboxed it two and a half years ago. But during that time I have noticed one, minor, shortcoming: the CD60’s tracking sensitivity is not as forgiving as other CD players I have owned. When a CD has a minor scrape or some incidental dust on it, the CD60 will sometimes not be able to track through it without skipping. Similarly, if a heavy-stepping person/child stomps too closely to my stereo cabinet while the CD60 is playing a disc, it will often drop out momentarily. …not a showstopper by any means, but it might be a useful datapoint to consider if you have many discs in poor condition or your player located in a high-traffic area.

I got a lemon
Like several other reviewers here, I was sent a CD60 that would not read a single disc in my collection. I've already returned it and am wondering whether to gamble on ordering a second unit (since I gather that a functioning CD60 sounds pretty damn good). It doesn't help that I emailed the customer service department at Marantz a week ago and nobody bothered to respond, not even with a boilerplate paragraph. Arcam, I hear you calling....
