Purchased to secure my keys inside my backpack, strictly not for climbing as stated but good for other purposes

Did exactly what I need, the screw mechanism is a little stiff at times but I guess that's just down to thermal expansion.

I kept buying caribeners where the hinge would eventually keep breaking open - these are seriously sturdy and will last a long time. Couldnt recommend more - great value

I've bought these in order to attach hiking equipment to my bag, however, just as a note; The UIAA standard for climbing carabiners demands a static strength of more than 20kN, which equates to about 2 tons (around 4496 lbs). These are advertised as being able to hold 50KG without breaking and, although it does not mention climbing within their 'uses' section, it is a bit misleading to show them visually be used for climbing equipment.

This pack of four carabiners arrived in a simple grip seal plastic bag.They each measure approximately 4.2cm wide by 7.7cm long. The frame has a diameter of 6mm and the locking sleeve a diameter of 1.5cm.Frustratingly, it is hard to know exactly what load these can take as the item description states 50kg, but the description on one of the pictures states 25kg. Whatever the true load is though, these are not for climbing. It was therefore nice to see the words “Not for climbing” stamped into the side of the spine, although, it is not as clear as it could be due to the black coating making it black text on a black background.Whilst the finish of the coating is good, with a nice colour black on the frame and orange on the gate and locking sleeve, the finish of the actual carabiner is not so good. The screw thread on the locking sleeve is a bit rough and loose making it squeak in use. The spring on the hinge is also a bit gritty, and not smooth to use.Worse still, on two of the four carabiners I received, the hinges were slightly misaligned. This meant that when the spring closed the gate, the nose didn’t stay centred, so didn’t slot back into the latch automatically. Instead it was slightly to one side, pressing against the frame and causing the gate to remain open. You can still close the gate by exerting a sideways force on it to pop back into the latch each time, but you shouldn’t need to.Whilst this problem doesn’t prevent the carabiners from working, it is a sign of poor quality control.In conclusion these are an ‘ok’ carabiner for securing light weight items to rucksacks, belt loops, bags, etc. They look nice, but unfortunately their actual finish isn’t as good as their looks. Had they been any more expensive, they would be getting 3 stars, however at £1.25 each (for a pack of 4), it is hard to expect everything to be perfect, so they get four stars.~ Amazon asked me to review this product and to give my honest opinion about it.
