Q: Can this be used for out-swinging doors or is it only effective with in-swinging doors?

I use it with an out swinging door and it works fine! I did have to mount the swing arm on the door stop part of the frame because I needed a wider opening.

Depending upon how it's mounted, could be 5 to 6 inches
