I purchased 8 sets for a family vacation, so each family could paint a set as a keepsake/fun memory. We had so much fun! They take paint well, open and close great... only 1 (one main one in one set of the dolls) stopped closing all the way after I painted all sides, including inside. I imagine I can sand it down and it'll close. They're still sitting as a happy reminder of our beach trip!

These are wooden Nesting Dolls that are plain, no design so that you can customize them yourself! The fit of the top piece to the bottom is very tight and some of them I couldn't open without fear of breaking them. Maybe make sure they fit snug and not tight. Once you get them open maybe yse a bit of 4000 grade sand paper on the lip or inside (but just a little bit so they are snug and not tight). If you plane to paint them make sure you wear white cotton gloves so that the oil from your hands doesn't cause you problems when you got to paint them. These are a great buy! The possibilities are endless! ;)

I'm not entirely sure what to say about this. So, it's really cool that you can create your own design. My son LOVES pokemon, so he was able to paint his own. They're actually a really great size and quality. The ONLY bad thing about these (AND IT'S REALLY BAD) is the sound they make when you twist them to open them. Oh my God, it sounds like someone stepped on a dog. It's worse than metal scraping against metal. And they're so hard to open! Other than that, they're great.

Previously bought from another company. The wood on those were not sturdy nor very smooth. These are extremely sturdy and very smooth. Unless I find another company that makes them as well, I will definitely buy from this company again.

Works good, easy to draw on. Little hard to close

Couldn't believe this was an Amazon's Choice product. It was rough and full of splinters and shavings still attached where it was taken off the lathe. It was so difficult to open the first doll because it was so tight. Rims of bottom part of dolls were thin and poorly fitting. I got them for my granddaughter as they were supposed to be ready to paint. They weren't even close to paintable. I returned them and paid twice as much for a set from a different company and the extra cost was well worth it. The old adage "you get what you pay for" really applies here.
