I am a marketer specialising in branding. I purchased this book as well as 'Universal Principles of Branding'. Though by different authors they (both from Rockport Publishing) look, feel and function as a pair.This book is great for anyone involved in communicating and connecting.As you might know, the single most critical point between the intent of any maker/seller/provider and the desire of the consumer/client/user is that point that where the two meet. Will there be friction (negtive)? Or will there be traction (positive)? Will they even connect?Universal Principles of UX is more an awareness guide (that strategy book) aimed at benefitting both parties, with 100 two-page illustrated principles addressing a deep and diverse range of topics including 'Introduce Complexity Only When Necessary', 'Uncover Concensus and Ambiguity', 'Interaction Design is the Brand', 'Understand the Sales Funnel', 'Don't Get Gimmicky With Navigation' and 'Modularity is Great for Designers'.What many business people (i.e., clients) and agencies (i.e., creatives) fail to consider is that of far greater importance than their own respective priorities is the need for the consumer to be able to engage and interract with the communication (product included) put to them by that business and agency.
