SAMe, S-adenyl L Methionine has been noted by research to improve cartilage formation. As you see from the name, it is essentially an amino acid. I purchased the 200 and 400 mg quantities. The product is a molecule that is synthesized by some yeasts - bakers' yeast is most common. While I cannot personally double-blind test its effectiveness, scientific evaluation has, and has shown it to increase cartilage recovery. I nearly completely re-tore a long-previously reconstructed knee , and, as my other knee had also been damaged by significant aerial mistakes and landings I sought more than just the usual chondroitin, MSM, etc. Having seen live images of the cartilage damage in my knees, and exploring the research, I strongly feel that SAMe is worth purchase. This brand is naturally-sourced - a good selling point, and it is reasonably priced on comparison to many others. SAMe is also sold as neuroactive, due to its part in the synthesis of serotonin, which was a matter of concern. Serotonin is synthesized through the production and synthesis of this molecule, in great part by mutualist symbiotic enteric microorganisms. Again, because this is natural, it is almost certainly a good nutritional supplement, as enteric organisms tend to change quickly in response to different dietary intake. Thus, it promotes more regular synthesis of one of the most important neurotransmitters. Due to the highly stressful period in which all of us are immersed, I haven't looked deeper into that neurological issue, although we DO know a few things about it. Serotonin itself cannot cross into the brain, and that produced in the intestines affects other physiological processes - we need it. But excess serotonin production in the brain affects males and females differently and the brain's feedback processes tend to act to restore normality (it's possible that some individuals may experience persistent insufficiency OR excess, but those are a small minority. .If you suspect such long-term problem, do consult a medical therapist - Psychologists can refer those with metabolic problems of persistent types to psychiatrists who can test for such problems. This company was extremely responsive (FAST!) to my Amazon order, and, so, with its component sourcing, seems a great place from which to purchase nutritional products. While I have experienced reduced pain , I had also been expanding the exercise of joints I injured and reinjured, and so cannot honestly evaluate sensations like pain reduction for others. I use less aspirin since the combination of SAMe, the natural healing process, and slow increase of exercise of affected joints, and as usual recommend any safe reduction of NSAID use. SAMe does not have the deleterious side effects of NSAIDs.

This SAM-e is the only one that works for our son with ASD level 1/anxiety/depression. I don't understand how one brand can be so much better than another. We ran out recently and I purchased a different brand in a local vitamin shop and he had no idea that the brand was different. When our new shipment of Nature's Trove came in I could notice a drastic difference in him. I didn't say anything, but he told me on his own that his brain was clear and that his anxiety was gone.

Once I saw that I've purchased this product 15 times, I thought I should probably write a review. I was diagnosed with depression many years ago, and was prescribed antidepressants which seemed to work at first but had a dulling effect over time. For me on antidepressants the world just became meh, no lows, no highs, just detached, and I hated that feeling. Sam-e has helped me be in the world, participate and feel much more normal. These help me enjoy life, even with all the craziness of it, especially in these times. Sam-e has absolutely improved my quality of life for many years now, and this is a trusted product of mine.

This is the 2nd time I've ordered it. No after taste, I'm in a much better mood state when I take it and my knee joint feels more lubricated and less achy.

I used to be really depressed. I'm not just being flip ... I've been seeing a psychiatrist for about a decade, more off than on in the past two years. I was super depressed. I decided to NOT take anti-depression meds because I wanted to be sure what I was feeling was authentic and because I had tried them in the past unsuccessfully. Through a lot of hard work and patience from my family, friends and doctor, I don't have a diagnosis of depression anymore. I'm a very happy person now! Having said all that LOL ... I still suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) in the winter. I live in a very cloudy city and used to live in a very sunny city. A couple three years ago, I was mentioning this to an older woman and she said "I can help but you have to hear me out." Of course, I was intrigued. She told me about SAMe. I asked her how she found out and she said "A shaman told me." Okay. This person is the LEAST likely person to go see a shaman for anything anywhere but she had run into one on a vacation and he told her to try it. She figured what did she have to lose? Your blues, that's what. So, I got a pack of SAMe, not this brand, kept it in my car and took one every day on my way to work. One day, out of no where, I was like hey, I feel good. GOOD!! I continue to take them until summer rolled around. Once the days start getting shorter, I start taking them again. Since then, they have gone up in price substantially all over. And then you also run the risk of not getting the dosage you need or getting something that upsets your stomach or whatever. So far, I haven't had any trouble with this brand. I feel good. I feel mentally even-keeled, it does seem to help my ever-present joint pain and I just feel BETTER overall when I take SAMe. I have recommended it to many friends and will continue to do so. I was worried about this brand because I read so many people got upset stomachs. I've been fine and my stomach gets upset if I take OTC pain relievers. These are not the magic pill. You can't just take one and everything will be okay. For some people I've talked to, it takes a month or two. For me, it took about a month to really feel the effects the first time. Once I got on my seasonal rotation, it seems to take less time to even out from the SAD effects. The instructions on this pack suggest one a day but say some people might find another one a day beneficial. This is inline with what other brands suggest. I've never had to take more than one a day. There is a warning not to take these if you are bi-polar or maniac depressive or if you are taking prescription anti-depressants. This is something you should talk to your doctor about. There are some side effects, you can find them by doing a web search, but they are rare. YMMV of course. The price on these is VERY reasonable. This is a three-month supply. Unless you have to up the dosage for the first month or two ... It's one thing to give five stars to a sweater or some a kitchen gadget or something but when it comes to something that goes in your body, I think it's important to know if other people have had success. I have had success with this product. I'm going to look to see if I can put it on subscribe and save. It sits by my computer and I take one every morning with my coffee. Sometimes I eat right away, other days I don't. No tummy issues :)

I can absolutely say I feel a LOT better knowing that it contains what it's supposed to contain, doesn't contain things that aren't good (like fillers or heavy metals) and makes a difference in my life. I'd suggest, absolutely, that if you are pondering this as a supplement, you read up on what it's been proven to do (and not do) and don't harbor hopes or illusions about it. Educate yourself before ANY supplement is added to your routine, that way you'll know better if it works for you or not.
