Great travel router, great value!
This is a highly useful tool for traveling. It's very easy to configure. I can log in once to the hotel wifi, and all my families devices are immediately connected. The router will protect each of the devices from being exposed to public wifi. There are many advanced features, including AdGuard, Parental control, and excellent analytics. I don't use it for high-bandwidth applications. I'm mostly limited by the bandwidth of the hotel wifi, so I don't have any personal experience with speed. Srtreaming video seems to work fine. Other reviews state this router is very fast, though. Very portable. Great value.

Perfect travel router
We bought the GL.iNet Slate AX (AXT1800) for my blind grandmother so she could still use her Amazon Alexa while staying at a Hilton hotel, which only offers Wi-Fi that requires a sign-in page. This little router worked beautifully. It handled the hotel’s captive portal with ease, and once connected, every device — including her Alexa — worked exactly like it would at home. We’ve also used it to connect our Nanit Baby Monitor, which is notoriously picky about hotel or guest Wi-Fi. The Slate AX had no problem getting it online, keeping the video feed stable and secure all night. Setup was surprisingly simple, performance was fast and reliable, and the connection stayed solid through multiple devices. It’s compact, well-built, and powerful enough for way more than just travel. If you’re tired of fighting with hotel Wi-Fi or need to connect smart devices like Alexa or baby monitors while away from home, this router is a must-have. Absolutely worth every penny.

Five Stars! A Game-Changer for Our Little League Livestreams! As a small family team dedicated to capturing and sharing our kids' sporting adventures, finding reliable and versatile internet connectivity has always been a major hurdle. Enter the GL.iNet GL-AXT1800 (Slate AX) – this little powerhouse has been an absolute game-changer for our streaming setup, and we couldn't be happier! For years, we've wrestled with spotty phone tethering, unreliable campground Wi-Fi, and the dream (now reality!) of using our Starlink Mini on the go. The Slate AX handles it all with such incredible ease and stability. Whether we're tethering to our phones for a quick game recap stream from the sidelines, plugging into a borrowed WAN connection at a tournament, or finally utilizing our Starlink Mini for those more remote locations, the connection has been consistently solid and dependable. What we appreciate most as a busy mom and pop operation is the simplicity and portability. The Slate AX is compact and lightweight, making it a breeze to throw in our gear bag. Setting it up with each different connection type has been surprisingly straightforward, even for us non-techy folks. The interface is intuitive, and we were up and running in minutes each time. The difference in our stream quality has been night and day. No more dropped connections mid-game or pixelated messes! Our family and friends watching from afar can now enjoy clear, uninterrupted streams of every exciting play, every goal, and every victory (and maybe a few learning moments too!). This has truly enhanced the experience for everyone involved. Beyond the reliable connectivity, we also appreciate the security features offered by GL.iNet. Knowing our data is protected, especially when using public Wi-Fi or tethering, gives us real peace of mind. Here's what we absolutely love: * Versatile Connectivity: Seamlessly switches between phone tethering, WAN, and our beloved Starlink Mini. * Rock-Solid Stability: No more dropped streams or frustrating interruptions. * Portability: Small, lightweight, and easy to transport. * Ease of Use: Simple setup and intuitive interface. * Enhanced Stream Quality: Clear and consistent video for our viewers. * Security Features: Added peace of mind knowing our connection is secure. The GL.iNet GL-AXT1800 has truly been an invaluable addition to our little sports streaming endeavor. It has eliminated the connectivity headaches and allowed us to focus on what truly matters – capturing and sharing our kids' passion for their sports. If you're looking for a reliable, portable, and versatile router for your on-the-go connectivity needs, especially for streaming, look no further! Highly recommended!

I'm probably going to buy another
I bought this for its VPN capability to route all internet traffic over VPN for privacy. Works great, easy to setup. I use this as a wireless bridge in the center of the house to connect to an older Netgear router that is plugged into the cable modem in one of the bedrooms. I get speeds almost twice as fast connecting to this router which then connects across the air to the old router, than connecting directly to the old router. Pretty amazing antennae for such a compact device. Also, I love the power signal range you can choose in the setup, from low to max.

Compact, customizable, and works with multiple VPNs
I purchased the GL-AXT1800 to stream with Roku streaming stick through a VPN at the office. AT&T DSL is the only reliable internet we can get where the office is located. We have tried satellite internet with less success over the years. We now have fiber cable ran to the building and soon will have fiber internet at the office in a year or two. Those crooks at AT&T are charging the company Broadband rates for their DSL service because they can. It may be due to the fact we are streaming from Youtube and other media services on the weekly. ISP providers can throttle your internet for streaming too much and also use that as an excuse to jack your rates up. With a good secured VPN, ISP providers can't tell how much you are streaming with their service. Also, VPNs are good for privacy and additional online security. If you are a gamer, a VPN can increase your level of protection against DDoS attacks for instance – not that these are common, but gaming rivals with a serious grudge could decide to attempt to target your connection and bog it right down, lagging you out of the game. Router is easy to set up. At first, I was able to get the Private Internet Access credentials to download to it and set up the VPN. All was fine until I discovered that PIA is not a good choice for streaming beyond Youtube. Since the router comes with Nord VPN already isntalled, I set up an account and downloaded the credentials to it and all is fine with streaming from multiple streaming services. Sometimes the internet connection can be slower at times when streaming through a VPN, but a three-hour live stream on one of the major streaming services only buffered for a second three times. Another good reason to use a VPN through this router is it can allow up to 120 devices to be secured through the VPN. Also, you can only use one VPN at a time. So far, I have two VPN services installed on the router. I am not a network router aficionado, but this device is very customizable. You can set up a private network to store and share files with an external USB hard drive. Depending on what VPN you use, you can configure it with OpenVPN or WireGuard within the router firmware. The toggle switch can be configured to turn AdGuard or Open VPN or WireGuard on or off without having to log into the router.

THE BEST MINI ROUTER!
I love this unit! I originally got it to pair with a outdoor Wi-Fi satellite to connect our warehouse to a long distance Wi-Fi and it worked great! Once familiar this thing is a lifesaver when on the road, just log the router in and all of your devices are already familiar. This is especially useful when on the road for work and you are relying on remote internet or hotel internet. Never had an issue with speed or functionality and for the price this is really hard to beat.

Fantasttic and versatile unit
I cannot speak highly of this product enough. I have used Netgear products, Cisco, and most recently abandoned my Google WiFi setup because it just wasn't working. The app was letting me down. To preface - I moved into a 5th wheel RV, whereby I have a live ethernet line coming into the RV but that's it. I had been trying to set up my Google Wifi both in the main house and as a secondary node within the RV creating a mesh network but the app was giving me so many problems and just wasn't working. Failure to even set up. Enter the Gl.inet. I had done my homework but still wasn't quite sure this would work with my application. I needed something robust that would accept an ethernet cable and be able to create a wifi hotspot within the RV from that same connection. This unit did the trick! Setup was very simple provided you have the basics of networking skills. I was up and running so fast I couldn't even believe it. Both the WAN and the ethernet ports worked to reproduce a reliable and very wide reaching self situated WiFi for my RV. This unit takes all of the guess work out of it. I honestly can't believe that for $100 this thing entirely solved all my problems. I am thoroughly impressed with the speed, capabilities, and ease of setup with this device. In case anyone's wondering, I am work from home 100% so this absolutely had to work for me. It's so good I almost want two for some unexplainable reason!

Work from anywhere setup your VPN and tunnel into your home ISP!
Have used this for about 1yr and travel with it. I set this up with wireguard and a stay@home Opal-SFT-1200 GliNet router. Works beautifully. It performs at fast speeds enough for streaming on various devices, easy to setup and manage and tweak to your needs! The range varies based on building structure but i have had no issues and i live in a 3FL house signal strength has not been an issue. Connecting is virtually seamless. As a few months ago my VPN link wireguard broke between the two devices and Bernard Lo from support helped me troubleshoot a recent issue with having recently placed pihole to be the DNS of all my internet traffic. * Bernard * from GLiNET support was throughout and he was able to run some tcpdumps techniques to identify port communication between the routers and traffic and determined that the port forward was not working so my main ISP router was not forward as it should. THE FIX was i reset both routers to factory settings. Reverted the main router DNS to automatic (serve it from main router). Enabled the VPN wireguard configuratio between the GL-iNET routers and it worked. Systematically 1 variable at a time i once again changed DNS of main router and VPN continued to work. With Pihole now filtering traffic as the DNS. I communicated this to support and Bernard ran another test and indeed VPN was active and working. However, the wireguard client was not using pihole to filter traffic as it should and Bernard after testing changed the server config DNS which ultimately finally pushed client to route DNS through pihole. Everything is currently working as it should and i am beyond grateful for this support and the guidance. Absolutely recommend anyone to invest in their routers.
