Diary Wimpy Kid 4

As described
Our tweenager enjoys these Wimpy Kids books. As with all books our impressionable young children read, I suggest reading it with them to ensure they know fact from fiction. At their ages, it's not always easy for them to decipher.

New Wimp, New Fun!
THIS blu-ray come with the UV code for this film as well as the original 2010 movie.Good continuation of a really funny kids franchise. This movie was different from the first three in that it didn't take place at The Wimp's home town. It was a road trip movie. So that makes it stand apart as far as plotline. I think the story was very funny. Lot's of good comedy. A decently endearing story of a typical pre-teen boy trying to meet a youtuber. So that makes it a little more modern than the original trilogy. There was definitely some humor hidden in there for the adults watching it, including a hilarious reference to the classic film Psycho. As far as the cast. I think the New Wimp (Jason Drucker) did a very good job in the lead role. His timing and facial expressions, as well as physical acting was right on. The parents where parents, probably nothing special there. If they could have gotten the original parents back that would have been nice. Rowley was only in one or two scenes, so not much to mention there. The actor who plays the New Rodrick (Charlie Wright) did a good job being the low-IQ clueless older brother. His casting did cause controversy with fans, because he doesn't look that much like Drucker. However, if memory serves (the original Rodrick) Devon Bostick (who is now 25 and aged out of the role) did not look much like Zachary Gordon (the original Greg). Speaking of Zachary Gordon. Fans were also (strangely) upset that he did not reprise his role as the WIMPY KID regardless of the facts that he is now 19 years old, has a very husky deep adult voice, is in college, and clearly hits the gym on a regular basis and does a lot of weight lifting.Overall this movie was very funny and very fun, and has a lot of redeeming qualities. The story is fun. The acting is solid. The direction is as well.9/10

New Cast Rocks It
Loved the previous three and had to purchase this latest one. I hadn't known the family (+ Roderick) was replaced by other actors. I guess they outgrew their roles. Once I got over my disappointment I enjoyed the film. I suppose we couldn't have the same Greg forever. I missed Steve Zahn as the father, but I think it would have been weird if the kids were different from what we'd known but the parents stayed the same. The father was pretty much a neutral character. The mother was great, and I thought she was very pretty. It was only during the closing credits that I saw she was played by Alicia Silverstone. The new Greg is very similar to the usual one in looks and in acting, and the older brother was not missed with the replacement. If they had to do this to give us more 'Wimpy Kid' movies, then so be it.In this film, Greg is 12 and his brother is 16. Little Manny, the baby of the family, is about 3. Mom wants to do a family road trip to Grandma's birthday party in Indiana. Her attempts to make the family closer seem to go astray. At the start they stop at a burger joint that caters to kids, and Manny gets stuck in a tube of the play place. Greg must go in and the scene is a trip and a half. He winds up sliding into a bunch of balls and in his search for Manny digs down and comes up with something that has everyone in the place taking his picture, and Greg goes viral. Greg makes an enemy of a huge man who turns up here and there along the way. (The scene where he catches Greg in his motel shower was done ala 'Psycho'. I liked that touch.) Manny wins an unwelcome prize at a fair. Greg causes seagulls to attack their van ala 'The Birds' (I liked that. With all those birds around, why not?) And through a series of small adventures they finally reach Grandma's in a most unusual way. Thanks to cast and crew for turning out a good, solid 'Wimpy Kid' movie. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 out of loyalty to the original family. They are missed. And this film wasn't "great". It was Good, and it delivered what it needed to.

Great Movie, New Cast Did Great!
The media could not be loaded. Movie was great and package came neatly with no issues! In my video above, that’s the ending music you hear. The movie itself was good, personally I prefer the original cast but that’s only because i’m used to them. It took me about 20-30 minutes to get used to the new cast but they grew on me as the movie went on, the new cast is younger than the old cast so it’s kind of odd in the aging sense, seeing as how they went from being old teenagers to young children. So the cast was a chosen a bit weirdly but all i’m all besides the age it is great! The cast did an amazing job and gave me the same feeling. Ofc nothing beats the original but for the new cast, they did great all things considered! i recommend giving it a try if you’re on the fence! I loved it.
