I was pleasantly surprised with this drum pad kit. I've recently started picking up drumming again (used to be a semi-pro drummer), and decided to go back to basics for re-storing and developing advanced hand coordination and speed. I was looking for a decent snare practice pad with a stand that doesn't break the bank, and this Kmise pad filled the bill perfectly. I wasn't expecting much given the price, but it did surpassed my expectations, considering that I've tested so many terrible pads in the past. The pad itself is very good, with the right amount of rebound (snare tension like). I wouldn't say that it has two "surfaces" for practicing...the padding in the back is more for placing the pad on top of a snare drum or other surface without scratching it. The rubber feels ok, though it looks like it may not last several years of constant pounding (it's already showing some use, only had it for 2 months doing daily practice). This is not a fancy practice pad, so it is a little noisy than higher end models, and the rebound seems a little "harder". I have a small 6" HQ RealFeel pad next to it, and the feeling in the rebound is slightly different, though not in a wrong way. The rubber in the Kmise pad is harder, and thinner, but it does recreates that highly tensioned head feeling. The size is perfect for the "snare" drum exercises, rudiments, and rolls. The double braced snare stand is pretty good, and you can use it as a secondary / auxiliary stand for a smaller snare / piccolo drum. You wouldn't want to use it for your limited edition gold plated snare, but it works fine and is very sturdy for a 12" to 14" snare. Height is ok, but since this stand is designed for a snare height (not a 1" thick practice pad), it somewhat lacks a little height. I'm 5'10", and at the correct sitting posture the stand is extended up to its limit. At this height, it's still very sturdy (no movement even when hitting hard), and it's way better than many cheap stands in the market, but taller drummers may want to keep this in mind. As always, "free" drumsticks are never up to standard, so trow these away, and get a good pair from a decent brand. You don't want to start developing the wrong technique (or even worst...tendinitis) because of saving $12~$17 bucks. Also, this kit doesn't come with a carrying bag, but it's no biggie since in my case it sits in the same place all the time. You can probably throw everything in a backpack and will fit nicely. All in all, whether you are a beginner drummer developing hand technique, or an experienced drummer in need of polishing some hand chops or working in your rudiments, I definitely recommend this practice kit.
