Can this unit be calibrated to compensate for the slope of the surface?

It can be set to compensate for a slope of the surface you attach the inclinometer.

Can it mount to vertical surface? I have no dashboard.

I don't think so. You could glue a small platform for it on the vertical surface. Remember, it measures inclination. It has to be vertical to measure it well.

can you mount this to the ceiling of the car?

The mount uses 2 sided tape and will only stick to a metal or plastic surface. Only thing I don’t like is how bouncy it is. I have mine on the dash of my Polaris RZR and when going up and down the trails it is hard to read what angle my machine is at unless I come to a full stop.
