Best antenna Ive ever owned.
Best HT antenna out of all the different makes and models I own. Instant difference in clarity and reception the moment i put it on my handsets. I have several different HTs and its improved TX/RX on all of them, even the budget models work like more expensive HTs with this antenna fitted. As anyone who is into radios knows, its the antenna that makes the radio.

Excellent Anytenna.
Very Good quality Antenna, I do not see any issues with this unit and is well worth the cost. Antenna is very very flexible. I would recommend this Antenna. I may follow up in regards to how I like it and any specific notes once I have a chance to really put it to good use!

Good for GMRS/MURS, not so much for HAM use.
For GMRS/MURS, these are pretty darn good! For HAM, not so great. This is 1/4 wave on VHF, 1/2 wave on UHF. I did SWR sweeps of several HT antennas, this Diamond was included. I used a large stainless baking sheet with a small hole drilled in the middle to attach the antennas to my VNA and Surecom 102. Yeah, I know, different conditions on a HT vs a mobile setup, but this was as reliable as I could get by mimicking how a mobile antenna would be tested on a vehicle's roof. Not perfect, but should give a potential buyer an idea of where the antenna is resonant. Hope this helps.

NOT just 7.5 inches long
The Diamond SRJ77CA is not Lightweight: At just 7.5 inches long as stated (It is almost 16 inches). This was the main reason I ordered this antenna. I use a HT when assisting on city hikes and wanted something compact. I also found this atenna's SWR to be a little high. It is better than the stock rubber duck. At least in the first test reception was a little better. So I decided to keep it.

Great on UHF, VHF is mediocre. SWR values in review.
Some have called this the gold standard of antennas. While I like this antenna, I don't know if I'd go that far. Don't get me wrong, it's a great antenna and I would recommend it, it could be better. One area you won't be disappointed is receiving. This is hands down better at picking up a signal than pretty much any stock rubber ducky type antenna. The VSWR for some frequencies is stellar, but within the VHF / UHF band, it does have some high reflection values. Definitely better overall on the UHF band. I tested the antenna using a Sain Sonic AW07A Antenna Analyzer in case you are interested in the SWR values. 136MHz: 4.5 140MHZ: 1.3 140.985MHz: 1.1 145MHz: 2.7 150MHz: 4.7 155MHz: 6.4 160MHz: 7.7 165MHz: 8.7 170MHz: 9.0 174MHz: 9.6 400MHz: 2.6 405MHz: 2.1 410MHz: 1.6 415MHz: 1.5 420MHz: 1.8 425MHz: 1.9 430MHz: 2.1 435MHz: 1.9 440MHz: 2.0 445MHz: 2.1 450MHz: 2.2 455MHz: 2.4 460MHz: 2.7 465MHz: 2.9 470MHz: 3.0 475MHz: 3.1 480MHz: 3.2

Great antenna
I got this antenna probably about a year ago for my Yaesu FT 65 and it has worked amazingly. I just ordered another one for my Baofeng UV-5R PLUS which has previously been a radio that has been sitting around with a rubber ducky antenna. I am going to start using this radio in my winter emergency kit and I thought I should upgrade it with a better antenna. This antenna fits both my Yaesu and my Baofeng radios and it is a reliable antenna.
