This was exactly what we needed for our betta's 2.5 gallon aquarium. It fits perfectly and is secure enough I don't have to worry about the cat trying to get in the tank or the betta jumping out.

I have freshwater aquariums with airline tubing and an electric cord for a heater coming out of the water, but I also have fish that may jump out of the nano tank if I give them the chance. The tubes and cord fit snugly outside of any corner of this lid, and the holes throughout the entire lid let water evaporate & filter/air stone bubbles escape. This is what I wanted because other acrylic lids that are sold along with my tank trap water, causing foggy condensation that I don't like the look of. You will need to make a habit of wiping this lid regularly so rust doesn't develop, and if you ever need to put salt in the tank then crusty minerals build up quickly, but they are easily washed off.

Came in great shape except was a bit too skinny for my tank. Was able to bend it a bit and now it fits well enough. Its a tad bit longer than the tank, which isn't a problem I just figured I'd mention it. My current mouse isn't as much of an escape-artist as some I've had in the past, but I still put a book on top of the lid so he can't push his way out - so far the lid has not suffered any damage from it and it seems to be holding up pretty well. 👍
