I just recently got into content creating and as such I needed something to hold onto my phone in a way that you wouldn’t be able to see the stand I was using. I came across this and out of all the other I saw I choose this specifically because of it’s orientation, cost and the fact that it came with a light. It comes in a box disassembled with a charging cable for the light and instructions. The instructions are straightforward and easy to understand; although honestly the whole thing is easy enough to figure out without reading them. It does attach to the ledge of a table or countertop, and honestly is really sturdy. The only caution I have on this is that if the edge you’re attaching it to is beveled it will not hold very strong. My dining room table where I usually record at has a beveled edge and unfortunately the clamp wouldn’t hold very well, so if your working space has a beveled edge be aware of this. I’ve been working with this in my countertop and it works well, except I’m really short (5ft tall) and I have a hard time seeing what I’m doing or if I’m in frame while recording, but I’m getting the hang of it. I might actually try to see if I can find a small piece of wood or something flat and sturdy to put on top of my dining room table to cover the bevel on the top and see if it secures easier. I have to admit the sturdiness of this thing really impressed me, I thought it might not hold the weight of my phone and the light together but it holds it with no issue and no sagging. It’s spring loaded and those puppies are strong. It even fights me to close it to store it back in the box. The phone holder is strong too, it detaches from the main body of the piece. It opens up to hold your phone at its sides and it grips your phone tight, even if you scoot your phone all the way to the edge it won’t fall out. The mount itself has a, I’d describe it as 180 degree pivot point and gives you the freedom to turn your phone into a “landscape” or a “portrait orientation for recording. The attachment that the phone mount connect to also can pivot to different angles so you can make sure you’ve got the right angle for your shot. The light attaches to the side of the phone mount, you just slide it right in and it holds securely. There is a screw hole on the bottom of the mount, although I’m not sure what for (probably where reading the instructions would come in handy). The light is rechargeable and is really bright. When I was reading the reviews for this before purchase I saw some where people complained it wasn’t bright, well I don’t know what sun they’re constantly staring into but this thing is blinding. There are also 3 different light modes you can use to capture the right lighting for your location/ subject. The only cons I see on this outside of the beveled edge situation is the light does get rather hot. But it’s not like I’m holding onto it. Also you can kind of see the tightness adjuster knob on the top by the phone but it doesn’t bother me, just thought it was worth mentioning for anyone else looking for an overhead phone mount. Overall, this will take some getting used to for me to use, but as far as functionality, lighting, sturdiness, and value for the quality I say this is definitely a win!

This mount is a great value. Like, “why did I wait” value. I bought it because I was tired of doing the usual: stacking books, propping the phone up at a stupid angle, fighting the camera view, then realizing the lighting makes everything look like trash anyway. This solves all of that in one go. The arm is sturdy. That’s the first thing I care about with anything that’s supposed to hold a phone in the air. Cheap arms droop, twist, or start slipping the second you bump the desk. This one stays where you put it. You set the position, tighten it, and it doesn’t slowly sag halfway through whatever you’re doing. It feels like it can actually handle being used every day without you having to constantly retighten everything. The phone clamp is solid too. It grips the phone securely and doesn’t feel like it’s going to let go if you adjust the arm or tap the screen. No wobble, no “hold your breath while you tighten it,” no sketchy flexing plastic that makes you think your phone’s about to eat it. Once it’s in there, it’s in there. The light surprised me. I expected the typical cheap LED thing that’s either too dim to matter or so harsh it makes you look like you’re being interrogated. This one actually works well. It’s bright enough to be useful, the light is even, and it cleans up shadows immediately. If you’re filming overhead shots, recording yourself, doing video calls, scanning stuff, whatever—it makes a noticeable difference. It’s the kind of improvement you don’t appreciate until you compare it to regular room lighting and realize how much it was messing you up. Setup is straightforward. Clamp it on, position it, and you’re good. It doesn’t feel like a delicate toy that you have to baby. It feels like a piece of gear that does what it’s supposed to do. Bottom line: it’s a great value, the arm is sturdy, the phone clamp is solid, the light works well, and I legitimately wish I had purchased this a while ago because it would’ve saved me a lot of time and annoyance.

A nice little light and phone mount. Easy to install and move around, the light charges fast and doesn't last long enough but works with cord plugged into power source. Update July, 2024, the light stopped working, at first if you turned it in one direction, it'd come on sometimes but that only lasted a day. I was so fond of the light I bought one for my husband and got another for myself. I tried contacting vender through Amazon but couldn't get through. I found a contact reference in the new ones I purchased and sent an email, along with a copy of the transaction, they responded within 24 hours. I explained situation and a few days later the replacement arrived. This is the best customer service on Amazon, they were curtious, response was quick, they seemed like they cared. They honor their warrenty!

Doesn't quite move right. Hinges are super tight, mounting screw from mounting clamp to arm doesnt tighten and hold in place so tiny movement spins it out of wack, the light doesnt really hold a charge. Used the light one time and now it is super dim after being on charger for 2 hours charging. Light does not hold in place well when screwed in so it falls off constantly and last but not least it does not grip your phone right so be prepared to constantly have to adjust it to keep what you want in frame.

I was excited for this, but the ball joint that holds the phone snapped the first time i tried using the stand. I figured maybe it was defective, and returned it for a second. Nope. Broke once more in the same spot. I've seen others not have this issue, so I guess it's up to your luck in getting a good one. The light, though, did work, and I found it to be pretty good.

Easy to assemble and use, just take it out of the packaging and find a table to fit it to. It does not move unless I move it, sturdy. It has a multi-purpose functionality, from shooting videos to holding the phone so you can watch movies. If you are looking for a close up phone stand this is worth getting for the value.

The value for the money is great. So many other options for an overhead phone mount are way beyond $20 and just completely out of the budget if you're just looking for a simple device. The look is sleek, not something clanky you're going to hit your head on, it's sturdy and can support the weight of my phone very easily. The assembly is easy, (didn't even have to use the instructions) the entire thing feels sturdy and strong including the movable points which was a worry for me because my last one broke at the joints and became to weak. This holder also includes a light which was a very cool bonus for the price compared to some of the other ones for the same price without the light, it's very bright with a cool, warm, and intermediate setting. It also had a brightness dial + it charges quickly and attaches very well to the holder, out of the way and strong enough to illuminate your whole workspace. Overall 10/10 very happy with my purchase.

This phone stand is great. There are so many ways you can maneuver it to get a video from any angle. The phone holder part is strong and won’t drop your phone. It easily attaches to any desk. The light that it comes with is great, it also has a cool tone and a warm tone of lighting. Overall great product with quality workmanship.

Es bastante resistente, muy estable, fácil de poner y quitar. También soporta bien un teléfono pesado con todo y case (iphone 15 regular con case de acrílico). La luz ilumina bien, es inalámbrica y tiene varios niveles; solo que la pila le dura como 2 hrs o menos. Se nota mucho ya que la intensidad va bajando. Si puedes mantenerlo conectado está perfecto, sino, necesitarás iluminación externa para apoyarte.
