Douglas Dickens Black Lab Large Dog Plush Stuffed Animal

This beautiful stuffed lab is more than just a stuffed toy, it’s special! We had recently found out that our beautiful 10-year-old lab-mix, Jade, had the terrible disease, osteosarcoma, and it had metastasized to her lungs. Our faithful family member that we had since she was six months old, and who grew with our two children, was suffering. We learned it was an extremely rapid spreading disease and she’d only have weeks left. To know we had no options to save her life was the most painful predicament, especially knowing days before her diagnosis she was still bubbly, happy, and had puppy-like energy, and full of life. Our vet recommended we take her home and wait for signs she was ready to “go”. We took her home and loved her like crazy, feeding her only the very best of fresh meats, gave her some anti-inflammatory supplements and her pain relievers. A loved one who also happened to be a pediatric nurse recommended finding a stuffed Labrador animal for my daughter who was very attached to our precious Jade. The nurse recommended we name the stuffed animal “Jade” just like our real Jade. I allowed my daughter to go on Amazon and pick any stuffed lab that she wanted that reminded her of our Jade. My daughter picked this beautiful stuffed Labrador, at the time we had no idea why she was so pricey, but upon receiving this adorable stuffed pet, we realized it was because she was life-size. My daughter Chose her because she said she looked just like our sweet Jade and reminded her so much of her. When we removed the new beautiful puppy from the box, Jade began to sniff her all over, and even sniffed her backside as if she were a real dog because she does actually look like a real puppy. It gave me peace immediately, because I quickly began to realize that even though we didn’t know this was such a large dog, it would be exactly what my daughter needed, but also what Jade needed, as she was in too much pain to want companionship from her hyper little doggy sister, and would often lay with the stuffed lab. We decided it would be a good idea for our real Jade to lay close to the stuffed puppy just so that when it is her time to go, my daughter gets comforted remembering that Jade’s life had literally touched this puppy. I never knew how much our Jade would find comfort with this puppy. It is amazing how many times we saw Jade finding comfort, snuggling with this adorable stuffed doggy. This couldn’t have been more perfect. Now my daughter can really feel our beloved Jade’s love through this cute plushy. This beautiful plush pup has made saying goodbye to our Jade a bit easier. The plushy made us less selfish. She allowed us to except that letting Jade go later was for us, but letting Jade go sooner was for Jade. So we chose to give Jade forever peace, forever love, and no more pain, and so we scheduled our final goodbye. When it was time, we celebrated Jade’s life with her, allowing her to feast on whatever her heart desires, holding her in our laps and expressing our love nonstop. Then, we had the strength and the closure to give her one last kiss, one last petting, one last hug, one last tear dropped on her beautiful coat. And then we held our “Jade” plushy while trying to accept that our Jade is free from suffering and she is in peace. Whenever any of us think of Jade, we hug this soft, lovable cutie. I highly recommend this stuffed dog to anyone, any age, grieving over there beloved pet, or any loved one. She has been such a gift to our family. This big baby offers so much love. None of the pictures I submitted with this review are staged; this was our Jade naturally finding something special in this beautiful plushy. I’m confident you’ll feel love in this stuffed lab like we have.

I bought this life size black lab after mine passed away age 12 and a half. I missed him so much seeing his empty bed. I now have this one in his bed and out of the corner of my eye I can see him and it’s as if my boy is there. He is very well made out of lovely plush fur fabric. He feels lovely to cuddle. The only thing I altered was the collar. I removed it so he could wear my dog’s collar. He’s a bit chunkier than my dog was but that just makes him nicer to cuddle. I love his big feet and floppy legs. Delivery was super fast from United States to UK in 6 days.

I love this dog! It is so realistic, soft and cuddly. I bought it as a Christmas gift for my great grandson. He’s only two weeks old now, but this will be with him for years I know, because I bought one for his father when he was an infant, he had it for years! Every boy should have a dog, and this one is perfect!

This dog is huge and very soft. It does not look like the picture advertised as the body is much fatter leaving this big huge dog look like it has no neck. The other thing are the eyes. Small black eyes you can't even see them and it makes it look as if the dog doesn't have eyes either. It is a very large soft beautiful dog just not what I expected for the very high price.

I recently lost my black lab Newfoundland Max. Not seeing him in the hallway was hurting me I couldn't find a big enough dog and then I ran across this one. I purchased it and was nervous however we got them home cut off his red collar put our guys collar on him and it is provided So much comfort to us. The product is as described. So soft just like my max, and the paws! Oh, so big....just like my baby's. This dog looks better in person than the pic. Thank you!
