Living in a condo with a range hood that can't vent outside used to be a real nightmare – even frying eggs would fumigate the whole apartment! This filter has been an absolute life-saver for us. It dramatically reduces the smell and smoke, preventing it from spreading into our bedrooms, which is a massive improvement for our air quality. What's also fantastic is how easy it was to cut this filter to the perfect size for our hood. The material feels strong and good quality, and it functions exceptionally well. Less expensive than constantly buying new pre-cut filters, and the convenience of being able to trim it to whatever size you need is a huge plus, especially with older, non-standard hoods. I cut strips approximately 7” long and attach them to the DUCT side of my JennAir down-draft metallic fat filters (15-1/2” x 5-1/2” that I also buy on Amazon). The flap sits on the bottom of the down draft box and holds the filter in place. I just use two 14g copper wire “staples” to secure the fabric to the metal filter. This keeps more of the fat from escaping into the duct and cuts down on the “wet dog” retrograde smell from a duct running through a crawl space. I wash the metal filter and change the fabric once a month when I change the furnace filters. IMPORTANTLY, the thickness of this brand does not seem to put excessive stress on the fan motor.

We bought this to place in our air vent as the family smokes and it tends to come upstairs through the vents. After placing it in the bedroom the smell of the smoke almost disappeared. It stops heat from leaking through too which is really good as the upstairs gets really hot. The size worked out, we cut out a bit of the size and just folded it in to fit it back in, but nothing too bad. Now we used the leftover and placed it in the living room section upstairs, and the smoke is almost all but gone. Would highly recommend using an exacto or a sharp knife to cut to your desired specs

Good air flow easing my concern of overloading my blower fan too much. Easy to cut and form for all my needs. Am ordering more to finish what wasn't covered in my first order.

I couldn't find filters for my CPAP machine (out of stock). I used this . 10cm X 10cm piece with 2 rubber bands. it worked for me. try under your own risk because it is medical equipment.
