desertcart.com: Dark Light: 9781482016932: Jennings, S L: Books Review: Absolutely loved. - I don't usually read fantasy (I was told this was paranormal at first, but I researched and found out that warlocks and such is fantasy). Still, I would kind of classify this as paranormal. Idk you read it and let me know what it is please. Anyhow, I usually don't read this genre, but holy crap I loved this story. Gabriella (the MC) is a cool chick, I can see myself hanging out with her. She didn't annoy me, though I did spend 60% of the book wanting to shake her and tell her what I knew that she didn't. I fully expected this to be a typical "insta-love romance". I appreciated the fact that Gabriella took it as "insta-lust" . I really really appreciated that. "Why would any somewhat sane, shrewd young woman deem it necessary to completely throw herself at a man she's only known for a week? "Between the champagne and tequila shots, my head is swimming and my inhibitions have taken a dive along with my already questionable morals." Tell me you haven't been there. Or don't bc if you haven't been there...I'll corrupt you. She's trying to find herself throughout the book. Trying to figure out who/what she is and who/what she should become. I appreciated the lost journey she went through because we all go through that. Hell, some of us are still going through that. I loved that she wasn't weak and didn't take crap from anybody. Dorian, Dorian, Dorian. This guy made me swoon. Like, all out, butterflies in my stomach, swoon . This doesn't happen often (really, it doesn't). He's such an enigma that it should be difficult for you to connect with him, but the way he is written, he just draws you in and makes you sit on edge waiting for the next time he comes out. "No one has ever moved me like you. Ever. The feeling you give me is insane. It's unnatural. You intoxicate me." "Cut the s***. I'm not some giggling schoolgirl and I don't take kindly to games. So save the googly eyes and phone sex voice." BAM! So Dorian has his secrets, Gabriella seems to think she has her secrets. "You see Gabriella. Darkness is not always what it seems. It can appear frightening at first but there is truly nothing to fear. Sometimes the light can blind us from the truth." So many times I wanted to hit Gabriella upside the head and say "PAY ATTENTION!" I will leave you with another quote (seriously, ever since I discovered how to highlight I am on a total quoting frenzy). "I am not light. I am not Dark. I'm his." <3 So am I, Gabi, so am I. Also, it's not that this book leaves you with a cliffhanger, I don't think I would classify this as one, but O.M.G. I need to know what is going to happen! Review: Despite the clueless heroine, I ended up really liking it for it's potential! - Gabriella had a 20th birthday to remember, right down to the mysterious and alluring man who took her breath away after one brief encounter. Oh yeah, and she found out that the life she's been living is a complete lie. She's always known she was adopted but never knew anything about her parents, and suddenly she's faced with a revelation from her deceased mother's own words: she's the daughter of two opposing sides, the Light Enchanters and the Dark Ones. Her existence is an abomination, a product of the law being broken by her mother and father, who would both pay the price. But she also represents an unknown, and a potential weapon for either side to use to their advantage, which puts her in grave danger. It's up to her to decide which path to follow when she reaches her 21st birthday and ascends, if she can stay alive and avoid influence from outside forces...including Dorian, the hot new guy in town that she can't seem to stay away from. The moment Dorian saunters into this story, the sexiness factor flew through the roof. This man just oozes sex appeal, and S.L. Jennings turns every facial expression, touch, and sound he makes into something indescribably alluring. He's mysterious and keeps Gabriella at arm's length emotionally, but as she discovers more about herself and the threat of the Dark Ones comes closer and closer to home, she needs him more than ever to escape from the confusion and madness. And oh, do they ever escape, and these two together were creating some intense, blazing-hot magic of their own! Over and over and over again!! *fans self* As much as I loved Dorian, Gabriella didn't wow me in this story; her laid-back attitude on her future made her come across as lazy at times, and she was entirely clueless about what was going on around her for WAY TOO LONG. It was infuriating how many signs she ignored, so by the time she finally figured it out my response was "DUH!!". I also felt like the idea that Gabriella was being hunted wasn't played up enough, because it practically gets shoved to the back burner for a good portion of the story even though they're supposed to be desperately trying to find and stop her. It seemed like the story went back-and-forth between a really hot contemp romance to PNR, so it messed up the flow for me a bit. Even with these weighing on my mind, though, I was hooked on Dorian and Gabriella's story and couldn't get enough of the two of them together. And when the intense sex started evolving into an intensity of their emotions, too, it made me realize how addicting this series is going to be! Can't wait to dive back in with Dark Prince, especially after this cliffhanger ending left me desperately needing to see what Gabriella decides!

Holy Paranormal Passion!! Loved. Loooooved Dark Light! The most beautiful gift a paranormal writer can give is to tell a story created so far from reality, but has you TOTALLY BELIEVING IN IT! Thats what SL Jennings gave me in this world of Dark & Light. Good & Bad. Right Love & Wrong Passions. Dorian & Gabriella are beautiful in the first instalment of Dark Light.

In the beginning I just didn't get Gabriella. She was in love with her best friend, Jared? Well, for me it was kind of a "side story" within the book. Something from the past already. I just didn't want to read about him. But then Dorian came into the picture. Oh my! Dorian made everything better. He was it! And of course, by the time Gabriella found out, who or what she was, the story was not so confusing anymore. A lot of things just clicked then. That also made her more likable. I could get why she was so disconcerting. Fortunately, I started the series when the second book was already published, because this one really has no ending. It just stopped and I started reading The Dark Prince right away. Most of the time the first book of a series is the best one. Here, definitely not the case! So, keep reading - it gets better and better...

Wow!!!! I had this book on my kindle to be read for a little while and kept putting it off; in favour of other books. When I finally decided, having run out of books that cried out to be read, to reluctantly begin reading this one. I can't even explain what it was that had put me off because from page one I was hooked. The story was original not a done to death boring plot which I guess I assumed it would be. The characters were described with such love and depth you knew exactly what they looked like in your mind and their personalities. The interactions among them all made me wish I was part of their friend set. Gabriella, although just starting out already shows signs of being a strong female character ( which I love) and although Dorian is a true alpha male full of danger, we have already seen a softer side to him. I was desperate to finish this book but didn't want to reach the end, so was very pleased to see that due to my procrastination I only have a couple of weeks until the next book - The Dark Prince is due out.... Thanks to all that is Dark and Light as I really couldn't have waited much longer for this sequel. If like me you have looked at this book and were unsure wether to give it a go, please read it. You won't be disappointed.

This is the second time I've read this book. It's one of my favourite paranormal books. I love Dorian and Gabrielle and their connection to each other. Dorian is such a mystery, is he good bad or a bit of both? I loved book 2 as well and can't wait for book 3 coming out soon.
