Has Changed the Quality of My Finishes for the Better...Excellent Product
This stuff is FANTASTIC. My finishes are smoother now with this product than ever. When I put a glossy product over this, it shines and makes it much easier to get a mirror-like finish. It is easy to apply (I use an old metal credit card, works great!) and cleans up very well. Two coats are required, and sometimes aggressive sanding is also required...but not that often. The only drawback is that this product does not fill deep crevices well...use something else for that. However, if you are just trying to get a flat surface from virtually any texture, and if you want to see the surface clearly, then this product is perfect.

Works as advertised.
It worked just fine sealing the grain. It spreads on very easy and dries fast. Two coats took care of it.

Works as described but takes more than you think.
This stuff is awesome. I had a bottle of this container of this that was so old was starting to crust around the edges and I decided to try this one cause it’s new and improved my take away is it’s definitely new but as far as improved goes, I think that’s more on scientific terms or notable to somebody that knows about its molecular structure. It seemed to work the same as my old one, but then again that one was pretty old so if I had the chance to buy it again in comparison to the older version, I would still choose this one. Great thing is it does fill grain in wood quite fast, but I’ve also used it with various composites and it does help fill pinholes, but generally takes a few coats and and then I sand it off then clear coat. Good value.

Easy to apply and great results
I saw this product mentioned in a Fine Woodworking video and thought I would give it a try on project I was starting in red oak. Did a great job of filling the pours and resulted in a very smooth finish. I typically finish with a homemade wipe-on concoction of oil and varnish, basically the “Maloof” finish, and the first coat came out very smooth. Super easy to apply, use two applications for best result, wait 45 minutes between applications and sand lightly with 320 grit. It’s ready for the first coat of finish after curing over night. It does seem to slightly tone down the amber glow you normally get with an oil finish applied to untreated wood.

Works well for a vintage look finish on QS oak
I got into a bit of a high end cabinet/vanity, medicine cabinet, lighting build on a bathroom remodel in our 1918 farmhouse. Reading up on how to apply a finish to quartersawn oak, all the experts say you have to seal the grain. I used this water based sealer, sanded it lightly with 800 grit and then finished with 2 coats of wipe in tung oil. It gave me exactly the mission/craftsman look I was after. It took 1-1/4 containers to do my vanity, medicine cabinet, light fixture, and in-wall niche.

Not worth it
At first I loved it, it went on clumpy I wish it came with a specific applicator. I tried a credit card, plastic 4” putty knife, a metal one, and eventually resorted to my hand. Does not go on evenly with any method, dried green/brown in some spots, and hardened and cracked like snake skin. I have had to resend the cabinets and buy wood filler to cover up the cracks left by aqua coat. I couldn’t sand it off entirely. Out of the 10 cabinet doors I did, only 1 was able to be used with “just” aqua coat on it. The $6.97 wood primer at lowes worked a heck of a lot better, don’t waste your money.
