Liftmaster 841LM Automatic Garage Door Lock

I ordered two of these for my garage, due to a slew of break ins in my area. Gotta say these things are awesome, and it's always cool to hear your garage door locking like a vault. The installation was fairly easy, but you do need some specialized tools for it. I don't even know what it's called, but is a drill bit that gauges up as you drill a hole in the track of the garage door. Use the template, measure, and then measure again. I almost messed up and had one of the bolts hitting the wheel on the garage door. Don't do what I did. Make sure there's enough clearance between the garage roller and template before you start.

Was delivered on time, and I had no problems installing on track. My garage track already had the predrilled holes on them, so all I had to do was screw the device in. The lock works great, easy to install and I will buy a 2nd for the other side. I recommend this lock if your LiftMaster has the shield icon, it does add more security to the garage door from being lifted. Once I press the garage button, the lock automatically unlocks and when it’s closing, the bolt engages and locks.

Product received is OEM, but is repackaged and not as advertised. Two major differences that matter. Screws received were not original but replacements with raised flat-heads (versus just flat heads), this reduces clearance. Wiring on the unit received was NOT 33' (10m), and was about 12', so I had to splice wires to install properly. Because this is a 'repackaged' new unit, likely no manufacturers warranty. I understand this Garage Door Lock comes bundled with a specific model Garage Door Opener that is frequently 'sold on the side'. That said, it is new, does work once you overcome the challenges.

Unfortunately, I was away and did not install the item until after the return window closed. This items was shipped with a broken screw in it and the lock did not engage, the exact thing the lock I was replacing.

Two hols and two screws. And two wires with a plus on it for newer motor or cut plus and connect each wire for an older model easy. Massive physical security upgrade. However if someone gets your clicker you have no extra security. For vacation or max security unplug from garage and slide manually into locked position.

This an original Lift Master part. The other ones that are being sold are not original equipment and don’t last very long. I could tell right when I installed this it was better.

The item arrived damaged and never worked correctly. If the item is damaged, there is no refund directly from the seller. They insist you work with the manufacturer. The manufacturer's warranty only covers replacement, and they have no coverage for the extra service costs. I do not recommend this item or its sellers.
