Bedford Clock Collection Redwood Mantel Clock with Chimes

Beautiful design and well made. I got this for my parent’s anniversary and they love it. The sounds are pretty and it has different volumes are you can turn it off. It keeps time well.

I purchased this Bedford mantle clock to replace a 40-year-old one that no longer worked. The retired clock had no features beyond displaying the time of day. The new Bedford clock has several features, such as volume controls, chimes and musical selections. Before I ordered this clock my wife said she wanted something similar to the old clock – no bells and whistles. The Bedford clock came well packaged. The design is visually appealing, and the hands are highly legible. The reason I am not giving the clock five stars is that the setup is somewhat difficult because the controls are not easily accessible. The backside of the clock is flimsy. You need to remove a “door” on the back, and I was unsure of how this had to be done since the manufacturer's setup instructions are quite meager. I called Bedford and a rep walked me through it. Even so, the letters on the controls are difficult to access, read and manipulate. I took out the batteries that are required for the extras and the clock now performs like the old one. It’s attractive and keeps time, which is why I bought it.

Beautiful and fantastic

I really like the design in that it has 2 battery compartments. One for clock to keep time(1 battery) and one for the audio(2 batteries). Since I wanted a silent clock, I didn't put in the 2 batteries for audio. The clock keeps time and is silent. For anyone wanting a review of the audio, I can't help....sorry.

The first one of these clocks I purchased had a defect in the wood in the front, so I exchanged it (which was easy through Amazon). The second clock has no visual defects and we are really enjoying it. It has several options for types of chiming, and has a volume lowering adjustment, which was just what we were looking for. The clock looks and sounds nice.

This is a beautiful clock. Unfortunately I have yet to get the number of chimes to match the actual time. Also it has a time out for the chimes from 10PM to 9AM. Since I need one that chimes 24 hours I will probably send this back.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I received my clock today. I am impressed with how it looks. It was easy to set up, I did have a hard time getting the back off, but will know how the next time. I also like the different chimes I could choose. The sound is good and it is well worth the price.
