A beautifully illustrated introduction to the mindful pleasure of pebble spotting Hidden in plain sight along every shoreline, these amazing consequences of wind, sea, and time all tell stories of our landscapes. In this spirited guide to pebbles, richly illustrated throughout, passionate geologist and pebble spotter Clive J. Mitchell gives practical advice on how to identify 40 pebbles and where to find them, making a trip to the beach or riverbank all the more interesting. The pebbles he introduces range from the humble flint to feldspar veins, serpentinite, granite ovoids, and the holy grail of pebble hunting, the rare rhomb porphyry. The book includes a space for the reader to ruminate on their own findings, taking note of the treasures that they pick up along the way. This is the perfect introduction to everything there is to know about the mindful pleasure of pebble spotting--and there is much treasure to find. Absolute Empfehlung
Absolut süßes Buch. Meine Kinder lieben es ihre Schätze darin nachzuschlagen. Wir nehmen es gerne mit auf unsere Abenteuer.

Not very helpful
The has pretty illustrations but they aren’t of much use for identifying pebbles. Similarly the descriptions are engaging but unhelpful. If you want a pretty book with some surface level information about beach pebbles (most of it only relevant to people in the UK) this book might fit the bill. If you’re a beginning rock hunter, especially one from outside the UK it isn’t much use.

This book is fun!
An enjoyable little book. It inspired me to examine my pebble collection more closely. The illustrations are very nice. No problems with purchase. It is now on my coffee table, alongside a bowl of prized pebbles.
