Nice and sturdy, works great
This is great. I haven't had it long enough to see how it will hold up, but it seems really sturdy. There are two minor things that detract from a perfect score, and both are manageable. The mounting brackets are plastic, albeit thick plastic - but I wonder how they'll hold up over time with UV exposure and the weight pulling on them. The second thing is the lines don't always retract evenly. When it returns to it's storage position, some lines are still loose while others are tight. You kind of have to pull it out and let it retract again to get it straight. Remember to hang onto the handle when retracting because it snaps back fast.

I Recommend this clothes line.
I love my clothes line. Easy to use. Holds several loads of laundry. Compact storage. I recommend this item.

fairly well made
I had my husband install this and it is well made. Our only complaint is because the T pole is 3 metal pieces that you connect together, the pole tends to bend when you attach the dryer rack to it and have laundry hanging on it. We plan on maybe soldering them together so that it stand straighter and will not bend. Otherwise, I really love it and it holds loads of clothes. I have been through many versions of outdoor drying racks and this has been my favorite. Fairly well made for such a good price.

Very sturdy
My 5 line retractable clothes line when pulled out got anchored to a tree as the pole. We had the tree cut down so I needed and actual pole to support the clothes line. It is beyond my expectations. My husband cemented in the base because we have thick shale and very little soil. The pole is very easy to put together and is super sturdy. It's a great product

Works great with the Whitmor 5 line retractable clothesline!
I dug the hole a bit two deep and wide as well, which was okay. I used 3 bags of Quikset fast drying cement which was great because I could use the line the next day. I had my own thoughts as to how to attach the Whitmor 5 line retractable clothesline which works very well. The line will lower due the the weight of items you place on the line. The line is a gray plastic line.

in a deed restricted community like we do
I owned one of these retractable clotheslines when we lived in Oxford CT. I used it for at least 15-20 years. I decided to save a lot of money again by hanging out my clothes at our home in FL. The clothes dry within 2 hours or less here in the sunny south. So, for those people who live in FL, in a deed restricted community like we do, Florida statute 163.04 states briefly in part: "A deed restriction, . . . or similar binding agreement may not prohibit or have the effect of prohibiting. . . clotheslines, or other energy devices based on renewable resources from being installed on buildings, erected on the lots or parcels covered by the deed restriction. . ." SO START SAVING MONEY - but be respectful of others in your close environment by not leaving your clothes hanging out all day.

Not as well made as the older one
We have had this clothesline and post for over 15 years. Finally needed to replace them. The retractable clothesline is fine. Just like the old one. The post, however, is a big disappointment. The older one we had was heavier and fit tightly together. This new one is thinner steel and uses a crimped vertical line to join each piece. The fit is much too loose and sloppy. When you hook up the clothesline and cinch it tight, the pole bends over at about 10 - 15 degrees. I have the base set in cement, so it is not the base bending, it is the sloppy joints. Now, of course,I can't send it back. Very disappointing.
