Superb build, incredible speed, advanced features, and a tiny footprint.
Compact, Ultra-Fast, and Loaded with Features—A Gamer’s Dream I’ve been using the SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini Mechanical Keyboard for several weeks now, and it’s easily one of the best compact keyboards I’ve experienced for gaming and productivity. What I Love: Phenomenally Fast & Customizable: The OmniPoint 2.0 adjustable switches set a new standard for speed and personalization. You can change the actuation point for every key—from super light 0.2mm taps for gamers who demand instant response, to a firmer setting for safer typing. You can even program “dual-action” keys: for example, pressing lightly on W to walk, and pressing it down fully to sprint—fantastic for competitive play. Premium Build Quality: The aluminum top plate feels solid yet lightweight. The keyboard is very sturdy and doesn’t flex, and the PBT keycaps have a pleasant textured grip that keeps fingers steady. Brilliant RGB: The per-key RGB lighting is vivid and fully customizable, with deep software support for effects and macros. It makes my desktop setup look especially sleek at night. Space Saver: At just 60% the size of a regular keyboard, it’s perfect for smaller desks or travel. While there’s a learning curve (especially coming from full-size boards), I quickly adapted, and now appreciate the extra room for my mouse. Some Things to Consider Learning Curve: Some keys (like arrows, page up/down, delete) are accessed via the function (FN) layer, which takes getting used to. If you rely on these secondary keys for work, expect an adjustment period. No Numpad or Dedicated Function Row: If you do lots of data entry or complex Excel work, the 60% form factor might not be ideal. Software Needed for Advanced Features: To unlock full customization, you’ll need to install the SteelSeries GG Engine software. Keycap Wobble & Sound: Some users report a slight wobble and a “clacky” sound when bottoming out keys—it’s much quieter than clicky switches, but not silent (I find it satisfying, but it’s subjective). Final Thoughts: The SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini is a top choice for gamers and power users who want lightning-fast response, deep customization, and quality in a compact package. The adjustable switches and dual-action keys make it stand out from typical mechanical boards. Its size takes a bit of adapting, but once you do, it’s hard to go back. If you’re looking for a premium, future-proof compact keyboard—especially for gaming—the Apex Pro Mini is well worth it. Just be ready for a short adjustment period, and install the software for maximum flexibility! Would absolutely recommend—especially if you can grab it on sale.

Wireless keyboard
I love it, comes with a dust cover too so that’s handy and the type c cable is braided and super long which is nice, you can use it as wired, wireless with the USB dongle or Bluetooth. All work well for me, no issues, charging is super simple. Lighting is very well and adjustable to dim or off. Keyboard feel is very nice, wrist rest may get a couple scratches over time but I couldn’t care less, keyboard itself fine had it for a year or so now and no issues whatsoever, held up strong as if brand new. Keyboard sound I love it too, wouldn’t let me upload a video but you can find on YouTube anyways

Best Keyboard for Price and Gaming
Keyboards responsiveness is by far the best in the entire market and nothing comes close. The quality of the build is simply above and beyond any others and all pieces feel extremely quality. While some models sometimes have repetitive key issues (I had to return mine once) even though it was a year and a half model, Steelseries very kindly sent me a new one without any problems. The looks of it is clean and the colour fits any setup. As for functionality, it’s perfect. The ability to change practically every setting in the App you have to download for the keyboard allows for it to be super customisable. 10/10 this keyboard is amazing.

Lovely Keyboard to Use
I work from home, so wanted a decent keyboard that I could use for work and also for gaming in my own time (I have it plugged in to a KVM). My previous keyboard was a Corsair K70, which worked well for me up to when it suddenly stopped, and I wanted another mechanical keyboard, just not another Corsair. The positives: The build quality is great It makes some noise when typing, but not too loud. Not as clacky as my old K70. I like the usb pass through - my mouse is plugged into it, reducing the cables across my desk. Negatives: There's very little useful information on the GG software to configure the RGB lighting, what there is seems to be for an older version, and what there is is mostly 3rd party YouTube vids. The Whatever The screen is a bit gimmicky. It shows you the selected configuration, caps lock, num lock, scroll lock. You can upload monochrome animated gifs, but they make it hard to see the locks. It's a bit of a faff to navigate and easier to use GG software to select configurations. Final observation is that SteelSeries have ignored convention and put the shifted key value under the unshifted value instead of above it. A bit confusing. (See pic for what I mean) All in all, though, a lovely keyboard to use. I'll figure out the software eventually and get used to the weird key markings.

DO NOT BUY THIS KEYBOARD
loving being able to set my actuation point - this is why i got rid of my logitech g910 orion spectrum, the actuation point was 1.5mm and that's too low for me, i was pressing keys by mistake all the time. Most keyboards seem to have a low actuation pont and the best i could find was 2mm but i didn't want to risk that not being right for me either so it was either this or the razer equivalent (don't like razer products, always suspicious of the quality due to some dodgy things in the past). Turns out 2.6mm is the sweet spot for me - i like to bottom out keys it seems. If you go above 3mm on this the keys don't bounce back in time so you miss key presses and there is no way to set the reactivation point, whatever that's called. USB port is great to have. My only gripes are that if you make your own profile it doesn't save it to the keyboard and these never load properly with windows. Sometimes nothing loads, sometimes just the colours load not the oled screen customisation and sometimes the other way around. I was considering returning it because every time i boot windows i had to go into the engine software and manually change the colour of one key and then back again and the profile woudl kick in. I didn't realise you could edit the built in profiles, which work fine. Does mean you are limited to 5 profiles though that's ok. Still, it would be nice if it worked properly. Secondly, i miss having proper multi-media keys like on the logitech. Double and triple pressing a button for different functions sucks, why not make the keyboard 2cm deeper and have proper buttons, i don't know becauase then it would be perfect. well almost. I don't like the steelseries key instead of a menu key cos i use that a lot. It doesn't do anything that couldn't be done in other ways and it isn't permanent - by which i measn if i disable the left windows key it is re-enabled by default the next time i boot, i would rather have an on/off button like on every keyboard i've had for the last 20 years. Few small niggles and that's a lot on a keyboard of this price but i'm overall happier with it than the logitech it replaced, mercifully. There just doesn't seem to be the perfect keyboard out there. I don't mind the linear keys at all and the keyboard is excellent for gaming. The LED lighting doesn't shine around the keys as much as the photos show, it's mostly through the keys and that looks great. If they could just change one or two things it would be perfect. My above review has been changed to 1 star and I urge anyone considering this keyboard to NOT buy it. The LED lighting has started to fail after 18 months rendering it useless. This is not an isolated incident as many others have had the same problem. For such an expensive item it's shocking that poor quality LEDs have been used. For reference I have a Cyborg V7 keyboard from about 2009 that cost £50 and all of the LED lighting is still working properly. It can be done but Steelseries (and Logitech for that matter) seem to be happy to sell you a substandard product at a luxury price point. Such a shame because otherwise it's such a nice keyboard.

really good keyboard for gaming
Really nice keyboard, caps feel good and is super responsive with the adjustable actuation. Only downfall is the software, when using sonar (not needed for the keyboard), will crash and bug your audio out. Turn sonar off and it’ll be fine

One of the best gaming keyboards I've ever used, feature rich and great quality.
I have always trusted SteelSeries as a brand so when I wanted to get a new keyboard I had already been looking at the Apex Pro since I had seen a lot of reviews and videos online about it and let me start off by saying I am not disappointed. To start with, the keyboard has an amazing build quality, the keyboard frame is made from aircraft-grade aluminium, and the detachable wrist rest is made out of soft, smooth material making it an extremely comfortable place to rest your hands. Secondly, the switches on the Apex Pro are a new type of switch called "OmniPoint" switches which means they have an incredible response time at just 0.7ms compared to the 5.0ms of a Cherry MX Speed switch. The main feature of these switches is that they have adjustable actuation points which means you can adjust how far you have to press a key for it to register as a keypress. You can set the actuation point from 3.6mm to as little as just 0.4mm, this feature is great for competitive gamers who want to have that edge over other players. The last thing I want to talk about is the amazing OLED screen. SteelSeries has a bunch of apps that can utilise this screen, some of which can display your CPU/GPU usage, or even show stats from a game you're playing. You can also keep it simple by uploading a gif to show on repeat, whatever you want to use it for, you probably can. The keyboard also comes with a volume rocker and button which is also used to control the OLED screen settings on-device. Overall this is the best keyboard I have ever used, it's great to type on, and as someone who averages about a 95-100 WPM type speed, this keyboard can certainly keep up. I would recommend the Apex Pro for anyone looking to get a new, feature-rich keyboard.
