Our exterior vent cover had become brittle and discoloured (tip: never use white, it just ends up going yellow). This new one is decent quality, but it is plastic so I took a bit of time and care to look it over work out how to open it up for installing. Plus the instructions are pretty poor. Like any plastic, too much stress and one of the cover points could snap. I decided to remove the inside 'insect' mesh, after deciding it probably would attract dust and block the vent. Our internal fan has a snap shut cover anyway (see photo), so there was no issue of bugs getting in from outside. After pulling the old vent off off the brickwork, I discovered the builder had put it up with 4 small blobs of sealant, so I chose to do the same, which was much easier than drilling and using screws. I figured if the old vent had stayed up for the past 12 years using sealant, this one would too. It looks good and does the job. I've added a few photos if it helps.

Overall for my usage They were not really of Use perhaps I got The wrong size as They were a shade To small. however I was expecting fixing screws with This product which was not The case. appears They are just meant To attach To your outside vent. would They stay in place without any fixing screws I will never know. overall The Quality of Them looked Good and would well do The job but no proper securing facilities supplied with These vents prevented me for not ordering a bigger sized vent.

The hardest part of fitting these grilles (2) was removing the remnants of the old ones. They had been glued in place but I eventually got them out using a light hammer and small chisel. In installing these new grilles I had two choices (as you would have with any such): screw them on using the four screw holes in the corners or glue them in place. I rejected the screw option as, in seeking to drill holes in my wall, I’d run the risk of breaking into the main vent hole. Instead, I glued them in place using a couple of dabs of household glue. That should be sufficient to prevent them coming loose e.g. in a high wind, but not enough to make any future replacement difficult. These are well made and I like the incorporation of the fly mesh. Never needed such a thing to date but can see the sense in it.

Looks great no issues with the build quality. For some reason the main DIY/trade stores in the UK don't sell them in black so had to order from here. Good value too.

A reasonably priced item that does what it needs, well made and ive had no issues reported after a almost a year on from install. I especially like the insect screen.

Easy to install, I used it for my tumbledryer vent. The plastic is quite brittle and you need to be careful not to overscrew the plate or it will crack.The first I bought came with a broken grill with two of the four clips snapped off. I tried to make do but eventually ordered another to swap out the grill.The mesh is perfect for keeping out insects but I don’t recommend using with a tumbledryer. I didn’t realise the force of the air pumped out and the mesh does restrict the ventilation. Of course you can easily remove the mesh if not required.
