A few months ago I got really angry with my bike chain slipping off. I run a tight mechanical ship and the chain was clean, tight, but kept popping off. I saw this tool and though EUREKA! It would solve getting my fingers dirty. The thing is - since I bought it my chain has never slipped off. Perhaps it has a supernatural quality that stops the chain slipping off maybe? Well - either way it is a handy tool, a good design and who cares whether it is supernatural or not - it seems to be the perfect tool for the problem I once had.....

Having had to use this today for the first time I had to pop on and write a review to mention how fast this was to use. It is lightweight, simple to use, worked exactly as it stated it would and I was able to carrying on riding my bike in under a minute - ideal when at the side of a busy road with traffic whizzing past me.

This is what I've been looking for, the ability to get the chain back on the bike without having to touch the chain and getting covered in oil. it is really easy to use, just connect to the chain, pull the chain onto the chainring and that's it. I would say it is a shop tool and not really for the road/trail as it is pretty big, but you could certainly fit it into shirt pocket.

Handy little tool that can strap to the frame or slip into a pocket or side pouch. It doesn't feel particularly substantial but the geometry of the lightweight plastic makes it very strong. I've only used it a couple of times in anger but it has proved to be very effective at hooking on a slipped chain and fixing a jam. Probably less damaging than hacking away with a twig and getting grease all over my hands like last time.

The tool itself is great, light, easy to use and much better than getting hands dirty. The rubber strap that holds it to the bike is weak though and suddenly snapped mid-ride after 3 days. Luckily I noticed it drop and the road was quiet so I could save the tool from being run over! I just keep it in my tool bag now.

Seems like a very niche tool, and originally bought for my son to use on his way to school to keep his uniform clean. Then realised myself (fingers on one hand covered in oil one morning) that maybe it was more useful than I had at first thought. Have now purchased one for myself, and would definitely recommend it if you bike ever has the tendency to drop the chain.. Compact, light and fits inside my existing on-bike toolkit.

If you want to keep your hands free of chain grease, then this is the tool for you. If you ride in the city, and can't find a stick to do the job this is just super handy. Keeps your fingers out of the chain ring and no more grease on your gloves/bars/kit!

This tool is very rugged, and I have every reason to expect it to last a lifetime. Additionally what worked out really well (perhaps by chance) is the fact that the spacing of the octaganol holes on the inside of the tool lined up with the pre-drilled holes that had bolts in them for a water bottle mount, so this helps to hold it in place and not slip up or down or turn around while riding! (my water bottle is obviously mounted elsewhere ;0)
