What a versatile and (genuinely) natural cleaning product
I have had these for a couple of weeks now. Very quickly I decided that a few nuts in the little bag was not going to work for me - kept losing the bag in the washing. Today I decided to see just how versatile and easy to use they are. I took 30 soap nuts. I would say that that was about 100g, so at current prices £1.09 worth. I poured approx 1 litre of boiling water on them and then 'cooked' them in the microwave for 5 minutes. I had seen that it is recommended that you boil on stove for 15 minutes, but it was fine. Be careful - it may boil over - then you are able to clean your microwave! I drained off the liquid and mixed it with 2 teaspoons of xanthan gum, juice and pulp of 2 lemons and about 50 ml of glycerine. I used a hand blender and the resultant mixture was thick and sand coloured. I think that it smells pleasant - it is a little like pineapple but not so sweet and fruity. This is an excellent handwash, shower gel, shampoo. It will not keep for long so I do not recommend making this much - I mixed it with a handwash I already had that was too runny so it has thickened it up. Do not expect lots of foam out of it but it is a VERY effective cleaner. Then I poured boiling water on the soap nuts another 5 times and left it to steep for at least half an hour each time. 4 times I did a load in the washing machine and poured the liquid in the soap powder dispenser. The clothes went in lightly soiled and came out as I would expect. I always use washing soda as I live in a hard water area. The 5th time I handblended the soap nuts. It was a very foamy mixture. I strained it, the pulp I put in the large cotton bag that the soap nuts originally came in and will put it in another wash tomorrow. The liquid I will also use for another wash. The foam I used to clean the sinks and the bath. There was a yoghurt pot full of it. So for 100g of soap nuts I was able to do 6 loads of washing, make a litre of handwash ( with just a few other ingredients) and get 100ml of foam which I could have washed just about anything with (I think that it would probably be good on carpets). If I hadn't made the handwash I expect I would have done another 4 washes at least. It has surpassed expectations as a product. Do not only use them once - as it says on the bag! If they still look quite shiny and date coloured they still have plenty of soap in them. I definitely prefer the steeping method to put in the washing machine. I would definitely recommend you do what I did to get the most out of them. I expect to replacing most cleaning products with these in the next few weeks. UPDATE: I am still happy with the soap nuts, using them every day one way or another, but I have to add this important piece of info. The soap nuts sometimes contain a very hard seed - about the size of a small marble, and almost as tough. This has resulted in me ruining my hand blender - I thought that I had fished all the seeds out, but missed one and now my blender makes the most horrible noise during use. Citric acid is the best preservative I have found for soap nut mixture - whether as a handwash, laundry or washing up liquid. It has the added advantage of being a natural de-scaler, so particularly good in the washing machine.

cheap and kind to the environment
Our son, who has now left home, had suffered sensitive skin so we had been using milder washing liquids for years and came across soap nuts by accident and decided to give them a try. We have been using nuts now for about nine months or more and when the brand we had been using was running low and was no longer stocked, we ordered this brand, and another one to find an alternative. In truth both were much the same as the last bag we tried. They cut out all chemicals, apart from the organic, natural ones in the seed casings, are much kinder on the environment and do save a fortune on washing liquids or powders. The real test though is how well do they clean clothes? For the majority of washing we have found soap nuts are fine. Whites remain white, colours don't fade, and everything appears clean. Stains vanish, even on the T-shirts of grandchildren, there is no fragrance whatsoever, apart from a pleasant fresh smell on line-dried clothes, and because there are no chemicals involved, skin sensitivity is not a problem. On heavily stained items then, as with commercial washing powders and liquids, treatment with an organic bleach, stain remover, or even concentrated soap nuts liquid is advisable, but for the vast majority of washing needs, in our experience soap nuts do as good a job as commercial products. Another son is now using the nuts for his family, including my grandchildren, and is happy with the results. Some people don’t like them, some say they don’t wash clean, and admittedly, you can’t see a drum full of soap suds through the washing machine porthole, which could deter some people, and perhaps the make or model of the machine could have a bearing on results, but both ourselves and our son and his family, have no issue with the nuts and are more than happy with the results.

Supper Clean Laundry Wash
Excellent for laundry washes for whites and fir coloured clothes and linens. It's also perfect for delicate knitted clothes such as wool, cashmere and also for silk. I started using it the day it arrived, to see if it really works. Surorisingly it did what it says it does and I'm very satisfied of the product. In terms of the scent, well, the clothes newly washed will take the smell of the washing machine. But after 10 minutes or so in contact with the air, the clothes will smell fresh and clean. No odour of any sort. I used 4 halves and placed it in tge muslin bag to test my color clothes, it was 4 blouses and 4 underwears. It came out perfectly clean and soft. For white linens I added other 4 halves to the previous that I used for the colored clothes and tge result is also excellent. I had been using the same bag of 8 half nuts for the other 3 washings left and and the nuts are still foamy, ready for my next week's washing. On hard stain though, you still have to treat it with stain remover. Overall, I am 100% happy with this product. It saves money as it perfectly cleanse and soften my laundry, and I don't need to buy another product for delicate wool, cashmere or silk sweaters and cardigans. It's environment friendly as it's natural. I believe it is slso excellent for baby clothes as it's chemical free. I will update again in regard to using it as a body wash.

Hubby and I share the laundry duty and we have fallen in love with these soap nuts. We were looking for eco friendly, cost effective, ways to clean our clothes that was still ok for our daughter with eczema. These are a perfect fit! I was concerned that my clothes would have an unpleasant smell but they smell pleasant without having an smell. Weird but true! I HATE plastic and I love this for the no plastic alone! We put 5 in one of the little bags and use it 7 times, then we add 5 more, without throwing away the older soap nuts. The price on these was great and that is why we chose this brand.

Tipiche noci indiane, molto forti e naturali.

Weißes sollte man also immer mal wieder mit normalen Waschmittel waschen.
