Peepo! is the much-loved picture book by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. A timeless classic that continues to delight generations of babies and toddlers and their parents, Peepo! follows a baby through the day in a style full of wit, charm and ingenuity. Look through the holes to spot details from the wonderful illustrations. A perfect gift for new babies and parents, no home should be without a copy! Here's a little baby One, two three Stands in his cot What does he see? Praise for Peepo! 'The best book ever published for babies' - Books for Your Children 'Surely no one - baby, child or adult - could fail to enjoy Peepo!' - Sunday Telegraph 'A book to last a lifetime . . . this is a perfect book for sharing' - Nursery World Review: A lovely timeless book - A lovely book. Had for my daughter 28 years ago a classic. Bought this one for my nephew and wife’s newborn Review: Hooray, baby doesn't care about the house being in a mess! - Here is reality - a household with toys strewn all over the floor, cupboard doors bulging open, a little baby throwing his food around. Here is a family existing on limited means, but making the most of what they have. Open each new page and follow the day through the eyes of a little baby/young toddler, from the moment he wakes to last thing at night, asking "What does he see?" All the while the little baby is having a wonderful time. Does he mind that his house is in a mess? Does he care that his parents haven't got the latest designer trappings? No! He just seems to be concerned about what his family are up to and the whereabouts of his teddy and his ball! The historic backdrop of WWII makes this book an interesting read for the older child - and what a great way for grandparents and greatgrandparents who were young themselves during this period of history to share their memories with their grandchildren today. Look at the pages carefully, and you will spot gas masks, men in RAF and army uniforms, a Winston Churchill photo pasted to the parlour wall, a bomb damaged house, a barrage balloon and aeroplanes high in the skies above baby who blissfully unaware sits on a rug chewing his teddy's arm. Most heart wrenching of all, baby's daddy bathing him and then kissing him goodnight, dad dressed in his army uniform ready to leave and to face goodness only knows what. Most children will no doubt miss many of these subtleties (I showed a girlfriend of mine who had been brought up with this book in the home and had never noticed the WWII background!) but every time I read it I can't help thinking of all the families who went through these times with small children, and it has emphasised to me that at any time in history how fleeting and just how precious our time with our children is. This is an amazing book on many levels. This is now the present I give to all my friends when they have a baby. The larger paperback makes an ideal present for an older toddler, or perhaps an older child with a baby sibling.

Beautifully illustrated, great book!
I read this book almost daily with my 2 year old daughter. The book is written in rhyme and makes it easy for my daughter to finish off the sentences (I have known it by heart for years). Every 3rd verse starts off the same way so it gives a nice rhythm to the book. The pictures are just a joy to look at as they have so many details. Sometimes we don't read the words, we just look at the pictures and point out all the interesting things to see. Like when the baby has one shoe on and one shoe off, and oh look there's the other shoe on the next page under the table! And so much more. I bought this book to replace an old tattered version as it is such a well loved book, I wanted my daughter to have the joy from it. It is really nice quality board book. You won't regret buying it!

Beautiful classic book
I had this book as a child and it's just as charming as I remember it. Written in the 80s, it depicts family life in the 1940s. The illustrations are beautiful - full of detail and interest. My baby is only eight months old, so probably a little young for it, but is transfixed by the rhymes and the pictures and loves looking at it, even when it's not being read to her.

Wonderful book
This was my favourite story in the 80’s when I was little. It was my children’s favourite too. I now buy it as gifts to spread the joy. It’s a lovely story.

Must have classic book
Love this classic book. This is our first baby gift we give to any friends that have a baby. Obvi it’s for older kids like toddlers…. But it’s a must have.
