Xbox One S FIFA 17 Console Bundle (500GB)

A nice mid-generation refresh/upgrade of the original XBOX One console. The added 4K streaming and HDR support are great additions! The revised design of the console looks very nice and modern, and at least this version doesn't look like a 1990s VCR. Much smaller, thinner, sleeker, and with physical mechanical buttons instead of those damn touch sensors. The new model also has a matt-finish plastic instead of gloss on the original model. A big improvement! Also gone is the external power brick, at last!. I know they were being very cautious after the 360's thermal issues, but I think they played it too safe with the original model. That thing was huge AND had the external brick, and most of the bulk inside the chassis was just ventilation space. The Kinect port on the back has been removed (OH NO - DISASTER!) but if for some reason - I'm not judging you by the way - you still want to use the Kinect, there is an adapter for it that the good folks at Redmond will ship out to you for free if you also own the original VCR model and the Kinect already. All of the other rear I/O ports remain. I'm actually surprised that they didn't remove the HDMI input port for your TV receiver to further cut the cost, as that was part of the questionable TV and Kinect direction the XBOX One started off in, before Phil Spencer took over and restored some sanity to the platform. If you're thinking about buying the S model as an upgrade from the VCR model, unless any of those minor things are important to you, the main reasons you'd consider the upgrade would be for the 4K output, HDR, and UHD Blu-Ray support. There are no native 4K games on the platform yet that I know of, but this may be possible with less demanding indie titles, or titles like Peggle etc but certainly not big budget AAAs because lets face it, the platform even struggles with 1080p most of the time on big release games, never mind native 4K! This gaming will be upscaled to 4K, which on native 1080p titles works out very nicely as 4K is an exact 4x multiple of 1080p which makes for better scaling, but upscaling quality may vary with titles that are not native 1080p or those that use dynamic resolution techniques. On the few native 1080p games I've played on the S, it looks very nice on my LG 4K TV. I can tell it's not a native 4K image, but it's certainly an improvement over 1080p. The only HDR game title I own is Forza Horizon 3, and it looks amazing at upscaled 4K with HDR (on my TV model at least) the colours are so vibrant, and the game itself is brilliant so it's not just an HDR tech demo. As for the UHD Blu-Ray support, I haven't tried this yet as I haven't used optical media for movies since the days of DVD. I completely understand those that still prefer an actual physical object when they purchase media, so even if you're only looking for a cheap 4K HDR Blu-Ray player, the XBOX One S isn't a bad bet! I got the 500GB FIFA 17 bundle as I already owned all of the other bundled titles, and I use a faster 4TB USB 3.0 drive for my game storage, so the 500GB drive is plenty. In the bundle as a nice bonus there's also a one month subscription to EA Access (better than it was at the start) and 14 days of XBL Gold. Not bad. Good work Microsoft! The XBOX brand is certainly in better shape now than it was when I regretted my day one purchase of the original model on release. Along with the PS4 Pro, I'm all set for my gaming and media needs now until Project Scorpio is ready.

Pre ordered this to replace my PS4 that broke. I didn't feel like spending over £250 on something id already bought, and the Wii U has no games i want to play untill Zelda comes out; So i decided to check out the competition, and I'm glad i did. First off the Xbox cost me £199 with FIFA 17, as previously stated the PS4 was £259 with no games at the time of purchase and the Wii U is currently around £230 with Wind Waker. Cost aside, the Xbox One is just overall a better system. while I'm not interested in many of the exclusives, the built in features and menus of the Xbox one feel cleaner and simpler than the PS4. the ability to have an app like Plex or Netflix running while playing a game is a feature i find very useful and use often. On top of this the system seems to run smoother, quieter and is less buggy than my PS4 was, despite being less powerful. The fact it comes in white is a nice bonus as it matches with my white bedroom, however the controller isn't the best in my opinion. It requires batteries to function and they need replacing every few days. This can seriously add to the cost of running the machine. I don't have an Xbox live Gold membership, but unlike the previous Xbox 360, the system is not gimped without it. i can still purchase and download apps, install updates and play the single player games i own. The size of the system is great too, it seems smaller than my PS4, although i can't say for sure as i don't have the PS4 anymore. I would compare it to a Wii u, but honestly my Wii U just sits in a cupboard gathering dust. To sum it up, i would say the new Xbox One S is a great system, and i can recommend it to anyone, even coming from an original model Xbox One. PROS: - Looks great and runs quietly - WAY cheaper than the PS4 and Wii U - Simple and clean interface (once you pin your favourite apps) - Has a large range of content and games including backward compatibility with a bunch of great Xbox 360 games, such as Fallout and Fable (although not many great exclusives) - The system turns on really fast and continues exactly were you left your game CONS - The controller has terrible battery life (still slightly better than the PS4 dualshock and way better than the Wii U gamepad) - the 500GB gets used FAST! after installing around 5 games (MGSV, Rare replay, fallout 4, fallout 3 and FIFA 17) only around 30% remains. - Some of the menus are weird to navigate and feel separate from the rest (the avatar menu for example) - Might be underpowered when the PS4 pro/ Scorpio comes out - There is no longer a Kinect 2.0 port (you will need an adapter)

I love the Xbox One S. It is great for playing Fifa 17 on and watching movies/videos with its 4K Blu-ray player. I would definitely recommend people to buy it, because of its 4K Blu-ray player and its high dynamic range, plus its great for gameplay. Would make a great Christmas present! The operating system on the Xbox One is a little bit clunky and takes a. It of getting used to but runs very smoothly. The controller is the same lay out as it's 360 counterpart but has a very strange texture on the thumb sticks which takes a bit of getting used to. One of the most unique features of the controller is the rumble motors in the triggers whilst playing Watch Dogs the motors in the triggers rumble when the gears shifted in the cars which was a nice touch. I have a few more games on the way and I am looking forward to seeing what the console can do. I haven't played very much online and I haven't played any shooters which I am told are better on the Xbox in comparison to the PlayStation. But so far it's a very good console and for the price it's well worth it and have recommended it to a few friends who don't have a current generation console.

The Xbox One S is the upgrade to the original Xbox One released in 2013. So what do you get after three years? Here are the main differences, 1) Smaller compact design (a significant 40% size reduction) 2) Built in power supply (no more bulky bricks on the power adapter) 3) Ultra HD, High dynamic range and 4K playback and streaming for games and movies (this will be the main reason why some people will upgrade) 4) HDMI 2.0a support (basically this means a smooth 4K experience at 60Hz) 5) HDR (better image quality, better colours) 6) 4K game upscaling (games which do not have 4K resolution can be upscaled from 1080p to 4K) 7) The Xbox One S can now stand upright (great for saving space) 8) Slightly faster internals (only slightly) 9) No dedicated Kinect Port but you can attach a Kinect through an adapter (maybe Microsoft are slowing down on Kinect to focus on VR) 10) Integrated IR Blaster (helps reduce remotes in the house) 11) New improved controller with integrated Bluetooth (so you can now use it on a PC, laptop, phone or tablet) The Xbox One S is a nice upgrade from the original Xbox One and we now have features we should have had in the original. For anyone looking for a new console this should be a no brainer, it's a great technical achievement. Should you upgrade if you have the original Xbox One, maybe. If you want the latest and greatest then you should upgrade, if you are a gamer and you want to be current then you should upgrade, if you want a 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray player then you should upgrade (4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray players alone cost around £300). As I mentioned before, the main feature which will sell this is the 4K support which includes 4K games, 4K movies and 4K upscaling of 1080p content. Please note you will need a compatible 4K television to take advantage of this feature otherwise it is useless for you. Another feature you will need to check is if you TV supports HDR which basically gives you richer colours and picture clarity. If your TV doesn't support HDR this shouldn't be a deal breaker for you, just make sure you have a 4K TV. There is a rumor that Microsoft is working on a new Xbox One which will may be released next year. This is rumoured to be another upgrade which will include virtual reality support. So if you are happy with your original Xbox One then maybe you can wait till next year. So PS4 Pro or Xbox One S??? Which one should you buy? For most people this is down to personal preference and exclusive games you would get on either console. You do get VR support on the PS4 Pro which you don't on this Xbox One S. Both systems are very similar and you would enjoy both, if you're still not sure just toss a coin. I bought the Xbox One S with Fifa 17. As mentioned by another reviewer, I am also not happy about receiving a download code. I know we are in a digital age and disks will eventually become obsolete. But I think there is something about unwrapping the plastic off a brand new game and inserting the disk into your machine for the very first time. Also the best games which have the best graphics require massive disk space. 40GB is not like updating your phone in one hour. 40GB for many people this will take many hours and it will slow down your broadband for other users in the house so this should be done at night. 40GB will also take up around 10% of your total hard drive space on the 500GB model so consider a higher capacity model if this is a problem for you. A 2TB model is available. Microsoft have tweaked the Xbox One S in other ways with physical power button, Cortana, updating the user interface etc which adds to the overall experience. In case you are wondering, the Xbox One S can play Xbox One games which means the Xbox One S can play Xbox 360 games (not all Xbox 360 games). Are there any negatives? Just a few minor gripes. There is no VR support which as I mentioned will be released next year. Microsoft still use 5400rpm drives which are slow and outdated. I'm not much of a fan of the drilled holes and vent design, it makes the console harder to clean. Downloading games takes the fun out of gaming, you sometimes just want to play now. Would I buy this again if I knew about all of the above, I think I would. Picture quality and resolution is very important to me, I would happily recommend this console. The new Xbox One S is fantastic value for money, I managed to pick it up for cheaper than RRP with an offer on Amazon, including Fifa 17 which makes the deal even better. The Xbox One S is a much better looking machine that the original Xbox One (which was massive), its a good size coming in at similar to the normal PS4. Its a very aesthetically pleasing device and looks good in white. I have both this and the PS4, the navigation on the PS4 seems a little quicker and more fluid however there is more available on the Xbox. Graphically there is no real difference in 1st party games with both sides really high quality. Although on 3rd party games, generally the PS4 looks slightly better from what I have tried so far, but not by enough to make much of a difference to the experience. I like both the Xbox and the PS4 controllers, although I feel the xbox controller has a better feel and hand position, but both are the best controllers have been. Fifa is very good although very similar to the last few years even though they have changed the engine. The Journey mode is a really good addition and something I've really enjoyed, the game is probably an 8/10. Overall a great console and very good for the price.

A decent console. . . . . when it worked. My unit would not connect to wifi consistently. Some days it would connect, others it wouldn't. It recognised my wireless network fine but wouldn't connect most of the time. Microsoft's troubleshooting implies that it is a problem with your router and not the Xbox (even though every other device in my house has no issue connecting to the WiFi. . . . . . even my 3DS!!). I tried all suggestions but no permanent solution found. The WiFi hardware in the console was faulty. A pity as I don't really care much for online gaming but you cannot play any games offline (required to be signed into your xbox live user profile). My order is being returned. P.S. That user interface is pure junk - terrible to navigate around.

Great upgrade for the xbox one. It is now even more of a complete entertainment package and with a 4k bluray player built in its just amazing. To buy a separate 4k player would cost more than the xbox itself. It had physical buttons now instead of the horrid touch buttons and the huge lead and power brick are also gonners. The new size is also very appealing and the new feel of the outer case is also a Deffo better addition. It is quieter than the normal xbox one also and I'd able to be stood upright or flat. Usb port is now on the front as opposed to the side it looks a bit strange but works out ok. It comes with the new white controller with the advance Bluetooth on it but personally I'm not keen on it, it feels too tacky and cheap, not like the normal controllers. Overall I can't recommend this enough if you have a 4k tv then you will really notice the upgrade. Try it and see for yourself, you won't be disappointed.
