I’ve been very pleased with Solgar Gentle Iron (Iron Bisglycinate) 20 mg. The main reason I chose this one was because it’s designed to be gentle on the stomach, and it really lives up to that claim. Unlike other iron supplements I’ve tried, this one hasn’t caused constipation or stomach discomfort, which makes it much easier to take consistently. The capsules are easy to swallow, and I appreciate that they’re vegan, gluten-free, and clearly well made. The 180-capsule pack is excellent value and lasts a long time, which is ideal for regular supplementation. The quality feels exactly what you’d expect from Solgar — reliable, well-labelled, and trustworthy. Overall, this is a high-quality iron supplement that does its job without unpleasant side effects. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who needs iron but struggles with harsher formulas.

This is a well priced, excellent product, gentle but effective. Taken by my 22 year old and me at 79. It arrived promptly in good packaging. All good.

My ferritin was at an alright level of 54.3µg/L, but I decided to increase it for further health benefits. I have been taking a mix of "iron and other supplements" for a year, but only during the day after meals. After a recent blood test I saw that my iron level has not moved at all in a year! I cannot highlight this enough - the only way to get iron absorbed is you need to take it in the morning on empty stomach with Vitamin C (at least 500?). I also have very sensitive stomach so had to try these ones. That's what I did for a week - I did take more than the recommended dose, but that was my choice. Just so it happened that I had another scheduled blood test at the end of that week and my iron level was now 56.3µg/L. Basically ferritin increased by 2µg/L in one week. Pretty confident this supplement did this and I will continue now with this approach until I get it to at least 100µg/L. Also, no stomach ache or other side effects! I will update my review when I do another blood test. 3/26 UPDATE: Just had a blood test, iron is 99.9µg/L !!! I'm super happy, hair seems to be growing much stronger and I never feel tired. For the comments who say "I've had it for a week and feel a great effect", these people are wrong. It takes ages and hard work to up the iron, further at least 3-6 months to see difference in hair (my dermatologist said you need +90 for good hair growth). Best of luck and stay consistent

I can’t take normal iron tablets as they badly affect my digestion. These are definitely more gentle. I can’t comment on whether it has improved my ferritin levels as use has been sporadic. Overall solgar seem to be a reliable brand though and I trust the overall quality and ingredients.

Easy in the stomach and effectively raised my depleted ferritin levels to optimal within 8 weeks.

I rarely give vitamin reviews because who knows half the time what is working. I had slightly low iron levels on my blood test. I started taking solar gentle iron and my hair has so notably turned from grey to black that my mum just asked me if I dyed my hair! My hair is also so much softer. I am honestly shocked! It could be the cumulative affect of everything I’m doing and taking but I think this was the key that unlocked the door. For the people who said it doesn’t work please note calcium can stop the absorption. Also you must take some vitamin C with it to absorb it well. I take it 45 mins before food in the morning and I’m thrilled with the results. Energy levels are better to.

I have been suffering from fibroids for some time and recently had to have a hysterectomy due my large fibroids since they were causing me to become extremely anemic. Even though, I had built up my hemoglobin levels in order to have surgery; I lost a lot of blood during the surgery and wound up anemic again. A normal healthy woman is supposed to have a hemoglobin level between 12-16 and after surgery mine fell to a 7.1. I was told to eat iron rich foods and in time my hemoglobin levels would rise but I just felt awful that first week that I was home due mostly to the anemia because I would get out of breath easily with exertion and my face looked sallow (brownish yellowish color) and I was extremely tired. I knew I had to take action and ordered Solgar's gentle iron. Unlike, the ferrous sulfate form of iron; iron biglycinate is not constipating at all. And did not cause digestion problems like even ferrous gluconate (like Fergon) can also cause. I went to my OBGYN today to follow up after my surgery and they did a hemoglobin check and mine was 12.6. And they were blown away that I had gotten my numbers up so quickly and how healthy that I looked. I no longer need to take an iron supplement because just eating a healthy diet with iron rich food will maintain and enrich my hemoglobin levels and I would not want to get "iron overload" from having too much iron in my blood since I no longer need to have my levels checked because too much iron can lead to cancer.

Easy on the stomach and no discomfort. Iron bisglycinate form absorbs well. I started this after feeling low energy and it helped improve daily stamina. No constipation or nausea which often happens with other iron supplements. Tablets small and easy to swallow. Quality from Solgar feels high and the bottle lasts long with 180 tablets. Good option for anyone who needs gentle iron support without harsh side effects. I plan to keep buying it.

Muy buen suplemento de hierro. Al ser bisglicinato, se nota que es más suave: nada de molestias digestivas ni estreñimiento, algo que se agradece mucho. Las cápsulas son fáciles de tomar y la calidad de la marca transmite confianza. Con el uso constante se va notando más energía.

Todavía llevo poco tiempo tomando estas cápsulas de hierro, pero tengo que decir que por ahora no me han decepcionado. Parecen funcionar y, sobre todo, no me han causado ninguna molestia intestinal. Recomendadas.
