Solid, reliable drain rods – great value
I bought the Bailey 5431 Universal Drain Rod Set (3 Pieces) from Amazon and I’m very pleased with the quality. The rods feel sturdy and well-made, with solid connections that screw together easily and securely. They’re strong enough to tackle blocked drains without feeling flimsy or bending under pressure. The carry bag is a nice bonus – keeps everything tidy and makes storage straightforward. For a 3-piece set, it’s very practical for general household drain clearing and ideal if you don’t want to spend a fortune on professional tools. Overall, a reliable and good-quality drain rod set that does exactly what it’s meant to do. Would definitely recommend for DIY drain maintenance. ***NOTE:When using these rods never turn them anti clockwise while you are pushing rods in a drain or a chimney or you risk unscrewing them and giving yourself a big problem.***

Brilliant Bailey Blues. I Should've got two sets...Dohhhh!!!!
Never used rods before and read some awful reviews on here about some 'budget' rods snapping, so I thought I would pay extra for some quality rods. And at £25.49 with three very useful tools AND the carry case, this was a bargain ( A 'Tin Shed' is currently selling this for £39.99. I realised today whilst using these rods that I would need some more NOW....could not wait for delivery as the weather is due to get much colder this week. The local 'Tin Shed' sold me a set of 4 BLACK Bailey rods for £14.99, I was so gutted as they were not as heavy duty (ie made of slightly thinner walled tubing so more flexible, not that reassuring when rodding silted up rainwater drains), I could've bought another set of Blues for a little over £10 more with case and tools (and an additional 6 more heavy duty rods)...Dohhhh!!! Anyway, these blue rods are quality, well made slightly less flexible which makes them more heavy duty (as thicker tubing), so great if you are trying to power through thick silt (mostly grit washed off from those old fashioned red roof tiles) in a rainwater drain. Maybe if you need more flexibility these may not be for you, but they were perfect for the my purposes. The most useful tools for drain and gutter clearing have been included, usually you have to buy the drop scraper separately in a budget set, all of these come in a superb carry case, which you would have to buy separately with a budget set so this set represents amazing quality for amazing value!! I found the worm screw attachment particularly useful as the silt deposits were compacted and had to be loosened by churning them up allowing the rods to advance further down the pipe run. Don't forget the mantra 'TWIST CLOCKWISE ONLY' or you will regret it, especially if using a drop scraper that gets stuck down a pipe. And make sure you check all joints are screwed tightly together before and during the rodding as the rods can work themselves loose when being twisted the right way because of friction or being caught on something on the ground. I attached my garden hose to the rods wth cord ties, sent it down the drainpipe with a direct jet at full mains water pressure this allowed the rods to advance even further and more easily, and when withdrawn quickly (turn off the water first!!) brought up a lot of silt, did this a few times and then lastly set the hose on a wide conical jet, made sure it was just inside the pipe before giving it full mains pressure and slowly advancing the rods (and hose) up the pipe thus cleaning the pipe walls. Oh ! You do need to be quite fit to use these in a long blocked drain pipe, it is quite the workout, and be prepared for a serious amount of mess ! Job Done !!! .... No need to pay D. Rod £200 + to clear drains ... Result !!!

Good Job - but bendy rods.
Bought these for Chimney rods on the assumption drain rods and Chimney rods are the same, and bought 16" Baileys brush separately. The rods are blue with brass fittings which means I have confidence they will not unstick in the fire place. (you know because blue is apparently a good colour for rods if you read the other reviews). The rods have paid for themselves in the first day of course, following cleaning two chimneys which a sweep would have charged my £60-80 to do. Its a dead simple job up and down and turn the right way and I'm sure they will last a good 10 yrs ... because they are rods so what can really go wrong? I may even start a chimney sweep business as it was so quick to do. So why just 4 stars... The good points: Brass fittings should last a while Blue rods (and blue is calming and reassuring) Nice carry case that is very handy for storing dirty rods Three attachments included which I'm sure are handy for something though I dont really get them The bad points The rods are very bendy. I was expecting some give as they are drain rods but I tried to use to reach a gutter (3 rods long) and the rods could not support the weight (they didnt snap just bent back to the ground). The gutter is an awkward place so I have to think of another way to reach it now when I hoped the rods would achieve the job. No space in bag for Brush or additional attachments No brush included but understand as different brushes for different chimneys. Rods are blue :)

Quality, price, these are the one's to buy
Have not used yet but seem to be of superior quality. Purchased in the US for a vacation home in Uruguay where this type of product is not available. Beware of cheap Chinese imitations, these are made in England and have an ippecable reputation.

Went around a 80 degree bend, cleared drain
Had a recurring kitchen drain blockage for about 2 years. Have used the plumber's auger previously which cleared it for a few weeks but would block again. Wasn't sure this would get around the bend in outside inspection drain but it did. The pipe is about 3 feet down and it's about a 80 degree bend. The spiral attachment just seemed to puncture the fatberg because only a trickle of gunk came out. The plunger attachment was incredible and cleared the whole lot. I also bout a 100mm brush attachment from Tried and Tested, to clean the outside of the pipe, which also worked an absolute treat. No more blocked drain.

Worth while Buy
Very pleased with this set of rods, saved me a lot of money by not having to get a professional out. The only criticism I have is they are not locking rods, so you have to remember to keep turning the rods clockwise as you go. Otherwise you could end up loosing in rods in the pipe.
