Rust-Oleum 400ml Surface Primer Spray Paint - Grey Matt

I tend to use a lot of spray paints in various arts and crafts projects. I particularly like to use them with paper, plaster (or metal) as I find they cover well and generally provide deep colours, are easy to apply and give a nice smooth even finish. I typically use this spray undercoat first, to help seal the surface and give a better finish with the top coat. It is a light grey colour (see photo) and gives very good coverage, for a very good price. I found it also works pretty well on rusty metal (just make sure you remove any loose rust with a wire brush and dust off, first). Good stuff. Recommended

This is really brilliant stuff. I have a cheap and nasty chest of drawers i want to refinish. It had the dirt and polish of ages on it and the varnish wasn't in very good nick. I used T-Class Sugar Soap Wipes on the wood, then two light coats of the surface primer and its taking paint beautifully. The primer dries in about 20 minutes, even in cold damp conditions and dries very smoothly. Its quite economical to use, I estimate I will get two coats on this small piece of funrniture and have about a third of a can left. The only thing i have against it is that it is a real struggle to remove the cap!

Delivered on time , primer used before and very good however product arrived with completely broken top so unable to use to cover the nozzle after use. Needs to be made of tougher material.

Great paint. Never had any issues and I’ve had a lot of cans of this. I’ve never tried their sealant but their primers and spray paints are very good. Just follow the instructions on tin to prevent any uneven painting or drip marks.

Good coverage, dries evenly, and makes a solid base coat for painting.

The Paint has a very Smooth Finish and is easy to use. The Primer has provided a very Consistent, Flat, Finish - overall. It is best to paint outside, if possible. The Fumes are fairly strong. Wear Safety Glasses and Gloves and a good quality Breathing Mask with built-in Filters. Ordinary Decorators Dust-masks are not good enough.

Goo adhesion - we used it on MDF kitchen cupboards after we had stripped off the vinyl wrap as a primer.

I decided to buy primer this time for a respray job and i am glad i did. Last spring i sprayed 4 ceramic planters without primer and within weeks it was coming off with just the rain hitting it - so i had to strip them down and start again! a valuable lesson. I bought this primer to respray some iron wall- art as it was too dark for our living room after we decorated - it worked a treat - i cleaned it with soapy water left to dry - sprayed the primer left it for 24 hours and then used a chrome spray - job done! Looks amazing - well worth buying as a primer i would not try anything now without it!
