Sahara Rear Drag

Model RD2500I have been using this reel for sea shore lure fishing after my previous reel suffered from ‘wind knots’. I have not had this problem with this reel and has worked well with braided line.The spool offers low casting resistance and I can achieve similar casting distances as with beach casting gear.The reel has a smooth action and works well with light gear.

I bought this reel (2,500) for trout fishing and have just returned from an extended fishing trip where I caught plenty of trout in the 2-3lb range and this reel handled the task brilliantly. Apart from the usual high shimano build quality there are two features I especially like about the reel:Firstly the twin rear drag adjustment which I find far preferable to front drag - especially with the additional second fine control adjustment.Secondly the simplicity with which the spool can be changed. Just one click and it comes straight off. So much easier than the penn battle 11 (3,000) reel I also have where you have to completely unwind the front drag retaining piece.I would thoroughly recommend this reel

The usual quality that we have become accustomed to from Shimano. Would have liked a shallow match spool but that is only my preference and is not intended as to be a fault in any way. A very nice reel and very smooth.

I won’t bother with any other available kit out there. This spindle is high quality and it works in any conditions.

Using 1000R for a few months. Seems to be very reliable. Only one small criticism button for the line clip, on one of the spools, flew off while under pressure. Could be worth checking if a new purchase.

Really good real works really well

Reel looks good and works well in the beginning.I've had two and my father-in-law one, all three failed in a similar fashion.The centre spindle becomes loose, and reel become rough.Have other Shimano reels which have lasted many many years but not this model.Just purchased a Diawa Legalis.
