The light is nice and bright, good enough to light my way outside when hauling the garbage down at night, or in our unlit attic, etc. The gooseneck is stiff enough to stay firmly in place during use. Charges via a USB-C port when it needs it, and lasts for many uses before needing to be recharged. I've had neck lights before. My first neck light was a "Kobalt" brand light from Lowes. But it charged via two separate micro-USB ports (one on each light, with no wiring between them). Aside from micro-USB being horrible in and of itself (the common "requires at least 3 tries" nature of USB ports prior to USB-C, but worse because the port and plug are so small and the devices didn't have a good indication of which side was the "top"), the ports also started failing fairly quickly, to the point that a year later one of the two lights couldn't be charged at all. Still, the neck lights were great for working around the house, including electrical work, attic work, and working outside at night. So when it broke, I was on the hunt for a replacement. My first attempt at replacing that light was a "bright" neck reading light. While it was probably bright when pointed at a white page at reading distance, it wasn't anywhere near as bright as the Kobalt work light for what I was using if for. After that, I started looking at the advertised lumens output, skipping any that didn't explicitly list them. That led me to this light. As noted, it is actually a little brighter than my old Kobalt work light, and fixes the fatal flaws of that one: A single USB-C port which charges a central battery, which appears to be well constructed and less likely to fail after a year of use. The only downside is the dimming control. I find it completely useless, both because the range isn't wide enough (it doesn't actually get "dim") and because it is a godforsaken "single button control" scheme where you hold down the button for a long time waiting for the light to dim then brighten then dim again to whatever level you actually wanted it. IMHO "one button" isn't a feature; it is a cost-saving measure that makes the dimming feature unusable. That all said, I rarely want to use these at any level other than "as blindingly bright as possible", so I'm not reducing this from five stars for that.
