Really nice quality paint set :)
After seeing an artist at the Northamptonshire September 2025 'NROS' festival using these paints I took interest in them. They looked amazing on paper with good colour strength and held well on a brush also the fact the tin folded out from its compact carry size is ideal for taking them out with you. So thought I'll have a look online and they are being sold still for 50 - 60 pounds online and in uk art supply shops so was put off a little. Then i saw them at the crazy price of £24 in the Amazon sales thats over 60 percent off i couldn't not get them at that price. They come in a lovely compact tin with the logo on and have the slots the half pans are in that can fold open to accommodate replacement pans ( I assume any brand half watercolour standard pan will fit . ) Also a clever slot down the middle that will take a pencil and or a brush ! I know from owning previous Winsor & Newton art materials they are a good brand . At the stage of my art ability the Cotman range is more than sufficient aimed at students & a intermediate skill group they're not a beginners set which gives confidence :)

A Watercolor Enthusiast's Dream
I recently invested in the Windsor & Newton Cotman Watercolour 45 Half-Pan Studio Set, and the anticipation to use these paints in my bullet journal has been nothing short of thrilling. The studio set arrives in a sleek and compact box, housing 45 half-pans of vibrant watercolors. The brand's reputation for quality art supplies preceded my purchase, and research suggested that these watercolors are a staple for seasoned artists. The high pigmentation and colour vibrancy are renowned, making them an ideal choice for those who appreciate the art of watercolor. What sets this set apart is not just the variety of colours, but the thoughtful selection of hues, catering to a broad spectrum of artistic expressions. The pans are arranged systematically, making it easy to navigate and choose the perfect shade for any project. As a bullet journal enthusiast, I am particularly excited to incorporate these watercolours into my journaling routine. The versatility of the set allows me to add artistic touches to my layouts, making each page uniquely vibrant and visually appealing. In conclusion, the Windsor & Newton Cotman Watercolour 45 Half-Pan Studio Set is a testament to quality craftsmanship and artistic excellence. If you're a watercolour enthusiast or someone looking to elevate their creative endeavors, this set is a worthwhile investment. I am genuinely thrilled with my purchase and look forward to the artistic possibilities these watercolours will unlock in my bullet journal.

every paint is wrapped & sealed & be careful when opening the lid but lovely paint
its not obvious what way round to open it & more often than not all the paints fall out, the individual pans have the colour written on but if you open the lid wrong the paint blocks also falls out of the pans , this is a problem because a lot of the paints look the same colour when dry, its difficult to tell what colour they are making it time consuming to get them back into the correct pots, im not exaggerating here. each single paint comes wrapped in plastic , not complaining about that but it takes time to take off. the paints though are really nice, theyre vivid & good quality. i have lost about 6 pans due to the lid problem & all the colours are in the wrong pans because i cant work out which colour is which so i would recommend maybe writing in permanent marker on the container under the pans. its nice that there is an extra fold out pallette as well as the lid. would recommend the paints but just be careful when opening, i get confused & think the paints are upside down because i forget about the fold out extra lid , i wish they would mark it so that i wouldnt keep turning the container over causing all the paints to fall out, usually when i havent used it for some time. ive had it for 2 years now & the paints are still great. the cerulean blue hue is the only paint that kind of looks weak when wet but it dries to a lovely pale blue though i am no expert. it makes a big difference using these decent paints compared to the very cheap stuff. this paint is a good price as well for what you get

Wonderful for beginners
I started illustration classes recently and my teacher recommended W&N. Since I'm still a beginner I didn't want to spend too much but I knew that if I wanted to get something decent I'd have to invest a little. I found these to be a great quality for the price. I was debating which set to get but opted for the Deluxe one in the end: 16 colours, a pencil, putty rubber, and brush. The quality of the paints has been great, very vibrant and pigmented, I've done quite a few pieces now and the pans look like they've barely been touched so I anticipate I'll get quite a lot of use out of it. Speaking of, most of the pans are completely filled but two colours are noticeably much smaller than the others, cadmium yellow and turquoise. I don't know if that's the norm but thought it might be something to note. The pencil's just and ordinary wooden pencil, haven't used it much so I don't have much to say. The putty rubber's good, I appreciate it having a paper sleeve and plastic wrap, makes it easier to handle. The brush is quite small, nice for detail work, I bought my own set of brushes so I just use it in a pinch. The case itself feels quite study despite being plastic, I like how spacious the wells are in the lid for mixing colours. I wish they included another divider for another row. There are notches that indicate you could fit another one in, though the rubber would probably have to go. It's quite fiddly setting it up and the dividers didn't feel very secure initially but I'm a messy user and the paint has made it stick in place. The selection of colours is just right for me, not too many to be overwhelmed but enough so I'm able to mix any colour I need. Very happy with it overall, wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

This little kit is about the size of a cell phone and is very easy to use as a travel palette. The paints are good and can be replaced by artist-grade paints of the same or other colors (purchased separately), if desired. I agree with the reviewer who wrote that one might not want any fewer colors in the kit to work with, but this product works really well as a travel palette. It also has a reasonable amount of mixing area, especially considering the size of the product. I use a waterbrush with this kit instead of the delivered brush (which is too tiny to be practical for my needs). A worthwhile purchase.
