It did for me. Just make sure the HDMI side is the right "sex" to fit into your monitor. The mini video end fits the Surface 3 perfectly. And what a savings over what Microsoft has to offer.

Will this work for a regular windows based laptop like HP Spectre x360?

I have a macbook pro mid 2010 model. the cable is not working when i try to use it with to display audio and video through sony mpcl1 projector. help!

Check your GPU, if it is newer than HD4000, It should be output audio signal; if it is older than HD4000, It could not output audio signal from HDMI. HD 4000 can out out audio by HDMI.

I just received my cable, i connected it to my surface pro 4 and it projects the image but it does not transmit audio. any help please?

I did not get sound at the beginning too. but I restart my Surface Pro 6 with the cable plugged in. when my pc turns back on, I could select the sound to go through the TV.
