Mercury | Clip On Bulb Holder With On & Off Function

Put a light bulb in this holder and it just wobbled about A LOT in the holder, I knew it wasn't the bulb to blame but thought I would try another bulb just to see. As I removed the first bulb I had put in the bulb came out and the metal bit that is supposed to hold the bulb came out as well. I immediately contacted Amazon who have processed a refund for this item as I was not willing to have a replacement because although you do get faulty items from time to time the item I received was obviously not damaged after manufacture but not checked or tested by the manufacturer before it was allowed out of the factory. For any electrical item no matter how basic you would expect a problem as drastic as this to have been spotted.

Absolutely fantastic bit of kit especially for the price! Purchased to use in a shed without any installed lighting, good length lead enables you to have flexibility over where you place it, clip extremely handy for attaching where needed. Very impressed with this product.

AVOID absolute garbage1. Bulbs do NOT fit, you have to cut off part of the mount2. The screw holding the holders thread goes, ON BOTH I boughtRubbish

The first bulb I inserted blew, the second was ok but the neck is too long - about 2cm longer than my old unit. I could unscrew the neck off my old one and swap it over. In the end I decided to return it as it seems a lot less robust than my old one and there is a jarring noise when I fit the bulb.

Requested a refund (Easy process with Amazon) as the bayonet light fitting did not hold in the light bulb. (Two internal pins not springing back when pushed in by bulb. Fitting of bulb within the holder was extremely loose and liable to fall out if moved. Even worse, due to being so loose, with the bulb not contacting pins under pressure, this could be a potential short circuit and fire risk.

Does the job perfectly well as a simple clip-on bayonet bulb holder (B22) with an on-off switch, which I needed for a growlight in the greenhouse. One star off as the product I received has a straight mains cable, not the coiled cable shown, and the clip spring could do with being a bit stronger to hold the thing in place more firmly.

The bulb wouldn’t stay on so I investigated and opened it up, the insulation on the neutral wire was exposed and contacting a screw - see image. Please don’t send me a replacement, I like being alive.

Does what it is designed for. Generous cord length for convenience. Very helpful in kitchen work area or stock rooms wardrobes etc. where extra light is always helpful. 4 stars instead of five as I feel the bulb holder could have been little wider and longer so as not to disperse light sideways also. But I point light towards wall and feels softer without eye strain.
