I understand Doulton used to be the supplier when we bought our filter tap some 20 years ago. Have no hesitation in recommending and they are simple to fit if you follow the instructions.

Water filters are a wise addition to any hot water delivery system. Spending a little on filtration can save a much bigger bill later if the water boiler starts to clog up with limescale and other impurities. These cartridges are the ceramic type which, if you're sensible, can be taken out, cleaned in fresh water, and then re-used - usually only necessary if there is a noticeable decrease in the flow of boiling water from the tap. Once cleaned or replaced, the water flow returns to its original rate.

Limescale is very high in our water. We've been happily using the doulton supercarb filter for years but since we got a new kettle I've becomes aware of how quickly the layer of limescale builds up (new limescale is visible after 1-2 days use when boiling filtered water). Having done some research on it my understanding was that upgrading to ultracarb would solve this problem through additional filtration. It has made little or no difference for us. In general the doulton filters are very good as I can see after 6 weeks the amount of reddy brown sludge that isn't getting through to our drinking water. But for the ultracarb I specifically wanted to solve the limescale problem and it hasn't done that. It appears we need to install the duo module dual filtration system to solve this and have an additional cartridge for cleansoft. I'm disappointed though as I read in more than one place that ultracarb addresses limescale and I was expecting some improvement over the supercarb.

Item arrived properly packaged. Aways use this brand, removes chlorine successfully (amongst other things) The chlorine of course ensures that bacteria etc are dealt with but does not make pleasant tasting drinking water, I can smell the chlorine from water taken directly from the supply, these filters deal with this.

This is a great quality10" water filtration candle. We've been using this type of 'under the sink' system for about 8 years. Simply turn off the angle valve (supply), remove, scrub with a strong clean cotton cloth to remove dirt and sediment from the filter, then reinstall and you're good to go. Depending on the amount of sediment and gunk in your water supply, this filter can easily last a year or so. I think it saves $100's of dollars every year. Highly recommended!
