Spear & Jackson 4160NB Elements Carbon Angled Hoe

the best £13.99 I've spent in a long time! The handle is long enough to reach into flower and veg beds without stepping into them. The head is well made and the angle means it can be used to sweep up weeds or tease them out of awkward spaces, brilliant tool.

Fairly lightweight and easy to use. Blade adequate, but could perhaps be sharper. Useful for weeding borders without having to step in them.

I love this swoe-style hoe and, for me, this is the one to buy. It is much better than the more expensive Spear and Jackson model which has a shorter handle and a stainless steel head that is wrongly angled (for me). This can be seen from the photo which shows both models with their blades parallel to the ground. However, I have had two of this "Elements" model and both have failed (rusted through) after three years at the weld between the head and the stem that fixes it to the wooden handle. This is in spite of the item having a stamp that clearly gives a ten year guarantee. Perhaps this is because I tend to leave my garden tools outside where they are needed. A check of the S & J website suggests that they are no longer making this style of hoe, which is a pity. It appears that the next one I buy may have to be from Wolf.

Excellent value for money.Very useful garden tool as I have to sit to do hoeing. Good long handle. Love it.

It was recommended to me to get a swoe from the local nurseryman- so I thought I’d buy an investment piece. This is a lovely sturdy tool which should outlast me… very pleased with item.

The media could not be loaded. Love this design but it snapped off at the head. I'd like to exercise the 10 year guarantee but cannot find a way to contact the seller. Please advise.

Garantito 10 anni si è rotto al primo uso. Dove il manico entra nell'utensile c'è un perno in acciaio zincato, questo perno rende l'attacco molto debole. Ho chiesto la sostituzione ma il costo per la restituzione è pari all'acquisto di un nuovo prodotto. Nessuno ha risposto al mio reclamo. Che dire, Spear & Jackson hanno chiuso con me.
