Sturdy, well made and easy to use. All in all an excellent product.

Brilliant tool and does the job. Decided to go on a spring bulb frenzy and this popped up as a suggestion. Decided to use it to plant them all and make it a little quicker. Given I have planted over 1000 bulbs of different sizes, this definitely made the work quicker. I have always appreciated the quality and sturdiness of Spear & Jackson products so this was definitely worth it.

If I were designing this for me - I would change two things. Firstly, I would make the handle longer. You really have to get very close to the earth to use it, and another six or eight inches would make life easier. Secondly, I would increase the diameter of the spike. As it stands, it's only right for onion-sets and very small bulbs. It does the job, and looks as if it will last, but I have to work harder than I feel I should.

... It lost this dibber a star. Where the metal pointy "dib" bit joins to the wooden handle shank there is a small screw. See photo. This screw has been tightened, or over tightened, in such a way that the head has been deformed leaving small but sharp and jagged protrusions. These could cause minor dermal contusions to the unwary dib operator. I will file mine smooth or replace the screw but this poor level of product checking falls short of what I expect from a major tool maker like S&J. Apart from this the tool looks strong and easy to use and I can stop using that old broom handle.

This is such a wonderful tool. It is well made and of high quality and is worth every penny. Don't actually know how I managed to do without one all these years.
