Surprisingly Effective Heating!
This solar mat made a real difference to our pool temperature. Easy to set up and works exactly as described. Very impressed!

Functional, adds warmer water but don't expect a warm pool, it just takes the edge off
I have a 15 foot bestway pool with a 2000L/hr pump, and have joined 2 solar mats in a chain. Flow through the filter is definitly slower with the mats, I doubt I could have put another mat or 2 in the chain without there being too much of an obstruction. They do work, on even mildly sunny days 17 degrees the water coming out has definitly been heated by 5 or more degrees compared to the pool water. Don't expect miracles- this will not make the pool heat up much, the flow is too little. Get a bigger pump and more mats maybe, but even then it's not going to make the pool warm enough for lounging around if the outside temp isn't hot. The pool will lose heat overnight, definitly dont leave the filter and mats on overnight as the increased surface area of the mats allow greater heat loss when the sun is not being absorbed by the black mat. However as a whole it is a worthy purchase, the mats have laster a summer of me periodically heaving them around to allow the grass to be mowed.

Expect it to last no more than 3-4 years.
These do work but like all Intex products they are not really built to last. My first one lasted seasons but with a lots of glue and patches. They certainly take the chill off these pools and make a difference but they leak but just a shame (like everything) you have to buy a new one every 2-3 years which is ecologically and morally bad.

Kinks stop water flow - minimal temp increase
When a garden hose kinks the water flow reduces. These ‘panels’ have lots of kinks which you cannot eradicate. A 1000lph pump reduces to just over 180lph. The water pressure due to these kinks sometimes forces the diverted flow pipes off loosing lots of water. So make sure you really tighten the clips on them or you could empty your pool in no time! At the height of the heatwave in blazing sun I noticed a slight increase in the water temperature returning to the pool. The pool did get warmer but it was 40 degrees out so I’d expect that anyway. After running two weeks and comparing similar environmental factors, our two panels have given us an extra 0.8 degrees, on average - on sunny days. Pool size is circular with a diameter of 10ft and depth of 30”. In the evenings we use the provided bypass levers to avoid loosing heat at night. The pump flow rate improves to 901lph. If they redesign these to reduce the kinks it could be a good product. As it is, I found it poor and wouldn’t buy it again.

Good kit
I got mine in January sales at 45% off it's notably better quality than the smaller Intex one and double the size. How well does it heat I can't say yet but I put it on my bike shed roof at chest hight on a cold sunny day ice cold rain water in with mini 12v solar pump so low flow and not painfully cold water out the other end so promising potential the instructions say put on ground I presume this is so that the pump attached is not over stressed and the pressure in the product remains sufficiently low for it to heat without bursting if you do as I did do not use your filter pump use something smaller and much lower flow rated and and one way valves into the heat loop. Is it worth full price I'm not sure but if I remember I will review it again in the summer

Works well, even in mid Wales. When the sun shines, that is.
I have the pool pump on a separate circuit, since I believe from reading these reviews that the filter pump's flow rate is too fast for these panels and is likely to damage them Since early April, I've had two of these solar panels, slightly raised above the pool (due to the layout of garden), and a 12v Whale (caravan) pump powered by a rotating/tilting solar panel. It's only an 8ft pool as my patio won't take any bigger. I have a floater thermometer for the pool, and a probe thermometer in the solar panel outlet (both Inkbird - I recommend, can view remotely on phone app). On a sunny day, the flow is like a kitchen tap on 70-80%, and the output is 5 degrees higher than the pool. With sun all day, it can raise the pool temp by 7-9 degrees C (bearing in mind it only really works from 11am to 6pm). Depending on the overnight temp, it drops 3-5%, so I spend a lot of time praying for 2+ days of consistent sun. This week, the pool is up to 27 degrees (C), which is lovely. I didn't use the tubes provided since I purchased heavy duty reinforced PVC hose a while ago to replace the Intex corrugated tubes that crack after one summer. I have gym mats underneath the panels, and I've just brought garden staples and tent pegs to try and prevent the warping mentioned by another reviewer. Photos taken 6:17pm 26/06/24 Edit May 2025: Upgraded since last year. Since the solar pads destroyed the grass in 2024, I built a raised platform approximately 1.5m above the top water level of the pool; 2.4x2.4m, big enough to take 4 of these panels. Used 2"x2" timber and polycarbonate sheets to place the pads on. I'm using two 12v pumps (Comet VIP-Plus) and an upgraded 50W PV solar panel (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Yusat-Efficiency-Monocrystalline-Charger-Charging/dp/B0DCDRTNB7) to power each one, in order to deal with the pressure required to pump that high. Having been blessed with an unusually sunny Welsh spring for once, the pool's already been above 32 degrees on several occasions. Oh and I used decent non-kink hose (https://www.amazon.co.uk/DEWENWILS-SwivelGrip-Flexible-Lightweight-Hosepipes/dp/B0BTP3NCXB) for the whole system. I'm not going to say it's an easy or cheap setup, but if you or your kids enjoy spending time in water (my daughter lives for it!) then it's a worthwhile investment.

Not worth using in UK - not enough sun and expensive investment for no benefit!
Very short pipes and fiddly to get right - Item needs to be flat and no air bubbles inside or flow is not fast enough - if there is sun the water inside mats does get slightly warm but not enough to make any difference even to a small pool of 10ft - so unless its a very small pool this is a bad investment and not worth using. if only takes 1-2 degrees at the most off the chill of the pool so on a very hot day it works to raise pool temp by 2 degrees approx. This is NOT a heater though and if you have a 14 ft pool its a total waste of time. returned for refund as does not work/blocked and broken - only fit for paddling pool 8 ft or less and only to take chill off pool.

I have four of these connected to my 4m x 2m x 1.6m pool (8500 litres). No leaks and connected to bypass valve. Works to heat water by 4-5 degrees over a few hours. I have them running for 8 hours in part shade and I have a constant stream of warm water running into pool. Can't fault these. Have worked perfectly in Sydney on 24-28℃ days raising pool temp from 22℃ to 29℃. Turned them on at 9am and up to temp by 1pm. Would recommend using with a solar pool cover.
