Super solution for drying clothes in winter – easy, quick, neat and a great investment!
I'm so pleased with this purchase! Can't believe how quickly and nicely my clothes dry now, it's really helpful for those who live in a flat and struggle to dry clothes in the winter months. My flat is in a very old, draught-prone building and so to dry clothes we had been rotating them on radiators (not good for the room or clothes) or on chairs and it would take 2-3 days to dry anything in winter. Now, I can put a wash on the night before and have dry clothes for work the next morning – bliss! My living room used to spend half the working week looking like I'd constructed a blanket fort every time I washed my sheets. When people came round, I'd have to remember to move my pants from the dining chairs so they could sit down. Not any more!! Now I feel like I am really adulting. Best points… • Easy to assemble – the shelves fold out very intuitively and it takes seconds to put together each time. • Ready to use – from taking out of the box to hanging out clothes – minutes! Great for me, I hate assembling products. • Lightweight – you can move it from room to room easily. • Safe – the bars are heated, but they never get 'too hot' so that it would cause an accident. We don't have kids or pets, but I might pop it in a separate room if we did just in case. Having said that, I've grabbed the bars a couple of times by mistake to move it, and it's definitely not hot enough to injure anyone. I expect if you had a pet they would just want to curl up underneath to sleep! • Sturdy enough – as someone else said, if your kid (or husband!) runs into it it's likely to fall over, but otherwise it's sturdy enough for the job! • Lots of shelf space – can fit one large load of washing, and that's considering that larger, heavier pieces need to be laid over more bars. Sheets are a bit trickier, but a bit of rotation in the middle of drying time sorts that out. • Quick dry time – I've been putting the timer (see below) on for 8 hours at about 6pm, then clothes are dry by the morning. I should mention that I didn't buy the official (rather expensive) cover, like other reviewers I just place a large dry bed sheet over the top of the whole thing and this speeds up the drying time like nobody's business! • Big, but neat – So yes this thing is pretty large (138 x 79.5 x 9.5cm), but it's actually a lot neater than using a couple of old-fashioned clothes airers pushed up against a radiator, with a few chairs spread around the room for good luck. It's great to have all clothes drying in one, neat wardrobe-shaped item. You can even cover it up with an Indian-style throw and pretend it's part of the decor (!). • Bright 'on' light – when it's on, it's obvious! Things to think about… • Price – yes, it's quite expensive and we resisted buying one of these on that basis. For us, the convenience offered and frustration at drying clothes indoors eventually outweighed the cost and now I actually have one, I wouldn't go back at all. Save up if you need to and invest in one, that's my advice! Once you have it, it's cheap to run and you'll save money heating your rooms, too. • Timer – the built-in timer isn't great, so I bought a basic timer with options for 15 min, 30 min, up to 4 or 8 hours. This is more useful for clothes drying and I would recommend it as a fairly cheap partner product (about £8) ANSMANN AES-1 Zero Watt Energy Saving Timer Plug • Short cable – there's not much scope for putting this further away from a plug socket without an extension cable, the cable length is I'd estimate 1.2m. Overall – I love this product, would highly recommend. Put away £20 a month over the summer and you'll have enough to buy it next winter! Adulting score – 10/10

Excellent buy!
We're soon moving to a smaller house where space is limited, so I decided to buy this electric dryer, not only to save space, but to save on the electric bill, too. I'd seen that these have been highly recommended recently, so decided to take the plunge. I'm so pleased I did! I chose this particular model because it looked more sturdy than some of the others and offered lots of drying space. It's one of the best purchases I've made in a long time! Even though we haven't moved yet, we've already been using it, and it's brilliant. It takes a full wash load of clothes or towels, and a full set of bedding. For our king size bedding, we have to fold it, but even then, it still dries in good time. The ability to set how many hours you want the dryer on for and just leave it is so easy and worry-free. You can also delay when you want the dryer to come on, though I've had no need to use that option. It really is so easy to set up and put away, and is very sturdy once in place, and has several configurations, depending on how much washing you need to put on it. The only negative I can find is that the power cable could really do with being longer, which was a point made in the other reviews I read, so I was aware of the issue before I bought it.

Good product, does the job
I received the product slightly damaged, one of the main bars in the frame was bent, however it does not affect the performance. The dryer works pretty well, drying up the clothes much quicker than a regular drying horse. I advise buying the cloth cover (although quite pricey for what it is) as it helps with keeping the heath in and drying the clothes quicker. Also, if used in a smaller room, the drier warms up the space quite nicely. The product is pretty sturdy, however moving it around is quite difficult once packed with clothes. A set of wheels would be nice to make it easier to maneuver it. The washing capacity is similar to that of a 3 tier drying horse, however the low hight means hanging trousers or longer items is not ideal as they overlap with the racks/clothes placed beneath. Having said that, the height is probably similar, if slightly smaller than your regular drying horses.

Delighted in every respect
This was a real treat for myself, I love buying things for my house and this has made drying the washing in the winter so much easier. Yes it is expensive but in a small house with no utility room it means I can put the washing on it (without heat) to dry in a spare bedroom, open the window a bit and the washing is dry in about 12 hours, then I plug it in to finish airing the clothes off. Plenty of room for drying/airing sheets, duvet covers etc. High quality and lots of drying space, the rungs and the shelves are well spaced, I bought the castors separately I thought necessary on a laminate floor to avoid any scratches. Fully assembled on delivery. Wish I had bought it years ago.

Completely over rated
Very poor drying. I had 6 items on the airer and still not dry after 10 hours - including modal pyjamas and a cotton shirt which were dryish but a thin hoodie was no where near dry; and that was with the cover which cost extra. The fabric closest to the rails was dry but the fabric which was hanging was still damp. The hoodie was laid flat so had maximum contact with the heated rails but still very damp. A complete waste of £214 for airer and cover. I think the clothes would have dried as quick on a non heated rack. The rails feel warm to the touch but the air inside the cover does not feel any warmer than the surrounding air temperature outside the cover. Very disappointing

Great drier
So far I have been very happy with this. I bought it because of the Good Housekeeping recommendation and I haven't been disappointed. It is quite efficient at drying a large quantity of clothes. I have mine in a small utility room and I frequently run a dehumidifier at the same time this reduces the drying time substantially. I am on Octopus Agile tariff so in the early hours electricity is usually very cheap but only for a few hours. Just had to invest in a couple of timers. There is no assembly you just have to unfold it. There is a lot of hanging space and will take about three loads of the washing machine,(not turned it on because it was warm that week). Not sure what weight that is and the earlier loads had dried a bit, but no sign of bending. It folds up for storage but doesn't come with a case. If you buy the optional cover, that can be zipped up to use as a cover when folded. Not sure how long it takes to pay for itself over the savings from a tumble drier, but electric prices are only going to keep going up in the long run, especially as all new cars will be electric in the very near future. Apart from saving you money, you are helping the environment by using less electricity.

Drying Clothes and Gentle Room Warming
For some strange reason I actually find it fun to arrange clothes in this dryer and then switch it on and come back 7 or so hours later to find them dried out. Cottons clothes and sheets dry faster than thicker items. Sheets are best laid as flat as possible. It provides the dual benefit of drying clothes and also warming up the room. This is definitely useful in times when utility bills are so high. It has a drying timer which is easy to set and chimes before switching off. Would recommend also buying the cover that comes separately. This cuts down drying time by about a third. It isn't very sturdy but once in place it doesn't really need to be moved about. It is light so easy to move if needed. Haven't done a proper analysis of cost but seems significantly more cost efficient than running a radiator next to a traditional clothes horse.
