Yes, it is a cuticle remover, but it won't happen instantly. Apply it, and then push back your cuticle (gently) with a hoof stick (yes, really. It is called that!) Wait a few minutes, gently push back again and then rinse off. Do that every couple of days, and it will do it's job.

How long do you keep the liquid on your nails for?

Please don't leave the liquid on your nails, it s highly alkaline in order to soften the cuticles,making everything it contacts softer . Try to paint it on only the cuticles then leave for 5 mins & push back with an orange stick.

Could this also be used as a callus softener when doing pedicures?

Absolutely i used it on mine and it worked just as good

This is a liquid, not a gel. If you mean does it soften the cuticles, then it does.
