Superking: Building Trumpeter's 1:16th Schale King Tiger

Incredible book! Several hundred pages divided into three sections: construction of the model; period photographs of King Tiger tanks during the war; and many photos of surviving tanks in various museums and collections. The construction of the model itself is unbelievable regarding the amazing amount of detailing added to the kit by Mr. Parker. He describes what the various parts are and it is just like a tour through the tank itself. It is fascinating to compare the photos of the model under construction with the shots taken of remaining tanks in various collections. It is true that the price is high but I think it is worth every cent. There are a few typographical errors in the captions, left for right, etc. but easily figured out. Pictures are very clear and here and there show Mr. Parker's fingers holding some small part so you can see just how unbelievably small some of the detailing had to be. The one problem with the book is that it is rather hard to find. Amazon didn't have it. It was only published a few months ago and it is already out of print. I suppose that is because it is obviously aimed at a very small market so they didn't print that many copies. I finally found my copy through "Bookfinders," and got it straight from the publisher. All in all, an amazing book, highly recommended, if you can find it.

Yes its a hellish price for the book but if like me you've already spent over £200 on the kit this extra bit is worth it. The kit is undoubtedly one of the greatest ever made with over 2000 pieces it builds into an amazing model but there are a few issues, omissions, errors in the order of construction etc all of which can be learnt through hours of trawling forums and photos or just buy this book and let the best builder of this kit ever walk you through it step by step. It's also an amazingly detailed reference book for anyone wanting to see and understand every single nut and bolt that goes together to build this 72 ton beast.

excellent book for the model build and as a reference book, bit expensive I thought to start with but when it arrived the detail was excellent. just wish there were some drawings for the parts being made to help us less experienced modellers in the build

Recently bought this book as I am considering building the Trumpeter kit. It's hard to describe how good this book actually is. Just over half of the book covers a step by step guide to building the kit with excellent photographs showing how it goes together and the inclusion of extras to make the build even more realistic. The rest of the book is photo rich with images of an actual King Tiger showing you everything you'll ever need to know about the tank and all its fitments and equipment. On the whole an excellent book that will benefit anyone interested in the King Tiger tank, and a must for all the armour model builders out there.

I admire his work! This book is not only for a modellers guide but also a good document to understand the construction of German most powerful tank during WWII. You might see the construction of the King Tiger as a director of its factory.

This is a great book based on a build of the 1/16 Trumpeter King Tiger, and contains a large number of reference photos of examples in preservation. Highly recommended!

Pretty much all you need to make a super detailed King Tiger. You can use the highly detailed contents on any scale King Tiger model. The best model and tank information book bar none.

En fin bok med mycket bilder från bygget av Trumpeters King Tiger i skala 1:16 samt byggarens modifieringar av byggsatsen och en hel del referensmaterial man kan använda sig av om man bygger en annan King Tiger modell. Jag kommer att bygga en av Takoms King Tigers med full interiör och använda bilderna i boken som referenser vid målningen.

L'auteur détaille la construction du King Tiger de Trumpeter au 1/16, mais il ne s'agit pas simplement de construction : il réalise de nombreux ajouts ou corrections. Cela donne un livre très intéressant pour ceux qui construisent un Tigre II, quelle que soit l'échelle. Les photos sont grandes, de très bonne qualité, et le char est extrêmement bien réalisé. Une deuxième partie de photos détaille les Tigres II (entiers ou en pièces) encore visibles de nos jours. Et enfin, nos avons de nombreuses photos d'époque, dont certaines me semblent assez rares. De ce côté, ce livre est bien mieux que de nombreux ouvrages sur les Tigres (j'en possède quelques uns). Il y a peu de texte, aussi les passionnés complèteront leur collection avec des livres plus explicatifs. En conclusion, si vous ne deviez avoir qu'un livre sur le Tigre Royal pour le modélisme, ce devrait être celui-ci. Le livre d'Osprey New Vanguard, le complètera bien pour les aspects plus techniques et historiques.

Dieses Buch ist ein "Must have" für jeden, der den Königstiger als Modell bauen will. Dabei spielt es keine Rolle, ob es nun die Trumpeter 1/16 Version ist oder eine andere. Der Autor hat für den Bau 3,5 Jahre gebraucht und das Ergebnis ist ein Traum. Klare Kaufempfehlung von mir.
