I wanted a timer that would run a small space heater for 10 minutes of every hour, 24 hours a day. It would have been nice if it had 24 programmable slots instead of 20, to align with 24 hours in a day. For this reason I gave it only 4 stars, but if you needed anything less than 20, it should work fine. Initially, programming the slots was confusing but once I had the rhythm of the sequence down, it went better. Read the manual thoroughly before starting, paying particular attention to the section on "Reviewing the archive program" - it may save you some time later. And leave it plugged in for at least an hour before starting programming to allow internal battery to fully charge. Seems to be working as intended and hopefully will hold up over time.

This timer is a nightmare to program. The instructions are in tiny print and difficult to understand.To this original review I'll add that after hours of effort and several miscues we did get the timer to work, and it does the job. I've upped to three stars. I still can't recommend buying it. There are easier timers to use.

I love the other products I've purchased from Tessan, they are great. However, I have failed to set this up as the instructions are so small I have trouble reading them and setting up the device. I had this on my bathroom counter for weeks and have not had the gumption to try again. Maybe if I get it working, I'll update this review.

I have several programmable timers and if I forget the instructions, I can usually figure it out. This one, offers various other functions (Cycle, Random, Countdown) and more complex timing modes. However, I had to watch the video with the Amazon product description because the printed instructions are hard to follow.

If you are patient and can follow step-by-step instructions, you won't have any problems with this! I really like the precise levels of control you can get with the multiple setting options--especially that you can program up to 20 on/off settings. I plan to get a couple more of these to replace some clunky older digital timers that no longer work as reliably as they once did.

The positive is that the LCD display is not difficult to read. However, I have no idea about the other funtions of the timer because I literally cannot figure out how to get this thing programmed. There is a booklet included and I did follow it, but it's way harder than it needs to be. No telling if any of the whiz bang features work or not, because I got frustrated and gave up. Life is complicated enough, I don't need the International Space Station's timer for my seedling light folks. If you have the time and energy to invest in fighting with this thing, feel free.

Bought timer for an indoor set of lights and I could not get it to work correctly even after reading instructions. My son tried also and was just as confused. Very confusing and never ended up getting it to work correctly. Disappointed.
