Based on the book by Louise Rennison, and directed by Bend It Like Beckham helmer Gurinder Chadha, Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging centres around the character of Georgia Nicolson, played by Georgia Groome, and her trials and tribulations as a 14-year old. There are boys, to start with, namely two brothers who have just started at her school, that should help in her quest for a boyfriend. There’s her rival, Lindsay, along with her friends in the ‘Ace Gang’. And let’s not forget too Angus the cat. It’s a mixture that naturally sends Georgia’s head spinning, and it’s the basis of a strong film. Far more than the teen Bridget Jones it threatened to be, Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging is actually a neatly layered, well-played film, that slots easily into the teen market that generally American cinema targets the best. Mixing some very funny moments in with the more dramatic (and it’s the quieter moments that ultimately impress the most), its young cast do themselves proud, helped immensely by the guiding hand of the ever-improving Chadha behind the camera. What’s more, it’s rare to see a film that talks to a teenage target market as well as Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging, without the need for liberal dollops of gloss. It’s entertaining without being patronising, and shows that British cinema has more breadth to it than many may give it credit for. Just be sure whoever you are buying it for understands about teenage girls liking and 'stalking' boys probably ages 10+ is the best range. There is no swearing or sex in this film I think the worst phrase is 'slaggy Lindsay' or talking about thongs and Lindsay pulls chicken fillets from her bra and stands by a window in her thong, not really offensive or bad and it's not a very long scene at all, just a warning though because some people find things like that absolutely forbidden. It's more than worth the money, a real funny film to sit down with and watch especially if you loved it years ago, if you've never seen it before it's one to definitely watch I don't know anyone that hates or even dislikes the film.

The film for girls in 2008
I really loved Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging as it is light-hearted and funny, yet realistic with film-y qualities. It is a must see for all teenage girls as it relates to the problems we may have, and is just a fabulous film to relax to. Watch it with an open mind and you'll love it! Great movie - not just for teens
The film 'Angus, thongs and perfect snogging' is based on the bestselling book series by Louise Rennison. Compared to the books, the storyline has changed quite a lot in the film. I prefer the film to the books, to be honest. This is mainly because the film story makes me feel much more sympathetic towards Georgia and Robbie. They are shown as teenagers both with good and not so good sides, whilst in the books Georgia is mainly portrayed as utterly selfish, who doesn't care about anyone but herself. In the film Robbie is portrayed as a nice and sensitive guy but in the books he is also portrayed quite differently. Actually the whole family watched this film and all enjoyed it. It has a mixture of comedy and some drama. Georgia Groome, who plays the main character Georgia Nicolson, does a great job. Also, it was great to see a British high-school-coming-of-age movie for a change instead of the continuous flow of US movies in this genre. I do hope that there will be another Angus movie, hopefully done by the same scriptwriting/directing team, as they did a brilliant job. This is of course my personal opinion, other reviewers do prefer the books to the film.

'A viewing sensation!'
Personally I found this film truly enchanting! Even though I have seen it around a hundred times it never seems to lose its charm. The four main girls are great and I find that despite the age gap I am able to relate to them very easily, it's almost like a `blast from the past' for me. They experience the same things that I can only assume almost every teenage girl goes through from first kisses and boyfriends to maintaining a reputation at school and dealing with crazy, embarrassing parents! As much as I find myself cringing throughout the majority of the film this is simply down to the fact that it reminds me completely of myself a few years ago. The film provides consistent humour and is sure to leave you with some extremely memorable quotes that I often find worm their way into my conversations. Initially, I thought this film would be great for any teenage girl but I know feel it would appeal to women across the spectrum and from experience with my brothers I am certain it would humour many adolescent boys too!

The best DVD created for young teenagers and adults!
This DVD was amazing!I watched it with my mum and little brother, who loved it, and we shared quite a few giggles along the way. I have read(and got) the books, and I think the DVD matches the book up perfectly. Georgia Nicholson the main character) is hilarious,and plays her role perfectly. I would recommend this DVD to anyone over the age of 10, to 99! You are guaranteed laughs along the way, ALWAYS! Read the books for extra giggles!

Arrived earlier than expected. My only complaint is that I didn't expect the DVD to have a different region code, so it won't play without tricking my DVD. I had to look up button sequences and randomly mash some buttons on my remote. Happy it ended up working because I love this movie.
