Q: Do these have an automatic shut off if I forget to turn them off and leave them on when I am done?

They do not shut off automatically. I find them to be comfortable, well designed, and of excellent quality.

Q: What is the difference between this model and the Razor Slim model - aside from the the increase in the dB rating ( 23 vs. 27)?

The Razor Slim (which is excellent) appears to be slimmer, particularly at the bottom, which is useful when shooting rifles or shotguns so the stock does not hit the ear muff. The slimness is the reason for the reduced dB rating. I am speculating that the electronics are the same.

Q: Can you hear someone talking with lawnmower or string trimmer running?

No, unless they talk louder than either of the yard devices.
