Good uplighters, great value
Excellent value for money and looks nice too. I first got one to light up a dark corner of my home office and it did a great job. In fact, I was so happy with it I tested it as an uplighter behind a large plant (c. 180cm) we have in an alcove in our dining room (alcove is about 1m wide and 3m high). It did that splendidly, lighting up much of the alcove without completely bathing it in light. The upshot is that we bought another two of these, and a new plant to put in the other alcove. (My wife now spends a lot more time in that room.) As for the aesthetics of the lamp it's obviously personal opinion but I think the black chrome ones look pretty good. In my case they're all tucked away so it really doesn't matter much, but if you're considering placing one somewhere that's going to be visible I'd say it's still worth trying it out. Hard to beat for the price. (We were considering having sconces put in in our alcoves, which would've been quite expensive and require re-plastering of the walls, so these were simply a no-brainer for us.) Highly recommend!

Great as a Computer screen back light - Great build quality. Simple & Effective.
I ordered a 'Cement Stone' Effect one of the three types you can order back in April 2024 and now its time for one on the other side of my desk. I used it on my desk as a back light to my computer screen to reduce eye strain where it gently washes the wall with light. Getting the bulb in is simple using the tips of your fingers - No so if you have long fingernails, then better grip the bulb with duct tape. The switch is a simple on/off rocker switch - but I have an Alexa bulb in there to get the best colour for my eyes, as staring at screens all day long take their toll. There is a knack to getting the bulk in - using the thumbs and side of the forefinger of a freshly washed hand (ie not greasy or slippery ) then the grip is easy. Otherwise buy a Rubber Sucker used for GU10 bulbs

Why does the cable faces the wrong side? Otherwise it would be awesome
Got it for 17.00 GBP before they all been snatched up and are now resold for double the money. It is a good piece of kit, can be hidden away behind a sofa, a telly-stand or displayed in the open. A couple of things to consider: -the cable goes in on the higher side of the shade, meaning if light faces the wall the cable faces the room, which is a design fault that has not yet been fixed -bulbs are a bit flimsy to install as you need to hold the bulb on your fingertips and press it down and twist it inside the metal tube -bulbs can cost you a fair bit of money themselves, mine were about 6 quid -to get the best effect you might want to consider buying two, I have not yet found a space or corner where one would give me a good enough effect (not the same as a high floor standing light) Overall these are well-made and as long as you use energy efficient bulbs there is no excess heat what-so-ever on mine.

Great customer service
Excellent customer service from Valuelights, ordered two of these lights but only one arrived, however they realised their mistake and sent the second one out immediately and received it next day. The lights are excellent and I am using these with GU10 6000k daylight lamps and am very pleased.

Stylish Accent with Room for Improvement
MiniSun Modern Uplighter: Stylish Accent with Room for Improvement The MiniSun Modern Cement Stone Effect Metal Table/Floor Standing Uplighter Wall Wash Lamp promises to bring a touch of contemporary style to any living space. Its unique cement/stone effect finish and compact design make it an intriguing addition to your home decor. One of the standout features of this uplighter is its versatility. With the option to place it on a table, floor, or against a wall, you can easily highlight focal points, brighten up dull corners, or create a cozy ambiance behind the sofa. The cement/stone effect finish adds a modern, industrial touch that can complement a variety of interior styles. The compact dimensions of 260mm height, 110mm width, and 110mm depth make this uplighter a space-saving solution, especially for smaller rooms or areas where floor space is limited. However, it's important to note that the lamp does not come with a bulb, requiring the purchase of a 35W GU10 halogen bulb separately. This additional expense and the need to source the bulb separately may be inconvenient for some buyers. Additionally, while the cement/stone effect finish is visually appealing, some users may find it lacks the warmth or coziness that other materials, such as wood or fabric, can provide. The industrial aesthetic may not suit all interior design preferences. Overall, the MiniSun Modern Uplighter offers a stylish and compact solution for accent lighting and adding visual interest to your living space. Its versatility and unique cement/stone effect finish are noteworthy strengths. However, the lack of an included bulb and the potentially polarizing industrial aesthetic may be drawbacks for some buyers. As with any home decor purchase, it's essential to consider your personal style preferences and lighting needs before making a decision.

Great value for money.
I love this lamp, it's positioned in a dark area of the sitting room. It has made a super difference to the room, lighting up the dark area and making the room more homely.

Misleading advertised photos show cable attached on opposite side.
Bought a couple of these to up-light a couple of dark corners in our dining room from floor level. Totally misleading photos on Amazon show the cable coming out of the shorter side of the lamp when actually, the cable exits the taller side... which is completely not what you would want if you're going to use them as they were intended by design... to wash light up onto a wall without room glare. Ideally, it should have the cable exit from underneath and the lamp be on little rubber feet... or something... The positives however, are that these lamps are very well made (rough-feel matte painted metal) and do throw a nice up-light when on the floor. I'm using them with a Philips Hue White and Colour Ambience GU10 LED bulb which is taller than your average LED (they sit about 10mm above the lower edge which you won't see when they're facing away from you) but at least they're easier to fit as you haven't got to reach down into a small cylinder with your forefinger and thumb trying to screw them in. I guess they do the job I wanted them to do... just a shame about the cable entry being where it is.
